Posted February 5, 200817 yr To kick off NY fashion week this A.M., I swung by H&M on 51st street where the megabrand was hosting a special press junket for Rihanna, whose tank top for H&M’s "Fashion Against AIDS" collection hits stores today. (Good Charlotte and Timbaland also contributed designs). Rihanna is not only gorgeous (check out her new cropped ‘do!), but she’s committed to worthwhile causes. She spoke with me for a few minutes about H&M, the AIDS epidemic, and her personal style. JF: What do you like about H&M? Rihanna: It’s not just cost-effective, but it’s cool. H&M makes stuff that young people really want to wear. JF: What was the inspiration for your tank top? Rihanna: The shirt was inspired by my own personality—I wanted it to be funky yet edgy. JF: What do you want people to know about AIDS? Rihanna: I think young people think ‘It’ll never happen to me’. They’re young and invincible. But every 15 seconds someone contracts HIV.
