October 15, 200816 yr I think the 2nd disc of Aerial is a summer album - weird as the album was released in the middle of winter.... it's a real 'perfect English summer' kind of collection. Not that we have summers of any description these days... For me, Red Shoes is just ok - And So Is Love, Lily, Top Of The City, Moments of Pleasure and especially the stunning Song of Solomon are incredible - but then you have the toe-curling Constellation of the Heart, the awful Rubberband Girl and the ho-hum title track to contend with.... it's a bit hit-and-miss for me.... and it's her own least favourite, too, coming at a time of personal turmoil - the death of her beloved mother and in the middle of her break-up of her 15 year relationship with her bassist Del Palmer. The accompanying film, The Line The Cross And The Curve is painful throughout - a real "what was she thinking?" moment.... I think more than any other artist I can think of, Kate Bush can't be judged on her singles.... it's only from the albums that you really 'get' her.
