March 10, 200817 yr If D's management and recording contracts are with Simon Fuller's companies, should they be responsible for ensuring he gets his royalties? http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:kNQrd...d=111&gl=uk There's Danesh, Darius but also Darius UNKNOWN which may also be his. March 10, 200817 yr I didn't realise artist/songwriters had to actually claim their royalties. I thought it was more or less automatic. How on earth are they supposed to know after the initial releases especially in a global world of downloads etc?
March 10, 200817 yr That's the thing with so many of his songs being down to Darius instead of Darius Danesh.
March 10, 200817 yr I could - if they were Darius or Darius Danesh. Are we volunteering for the job again, BT?
March 10, 200817 yr I wonder if people have a limited time to stake their claims or if they've got until the copyright runs out and what happens to the money if it remains unclaimed. There are an awful lot of names on there.
March 11, 200817 yr It seems a really complicated thing to keep track of. How, for example, would a songwriter know if someone halfway round the world is covering one of their songs?
March 11, 200817 yr There have been cases in the past where the wrong writer was getting royalties for someone else's song. It only c ame up when it was used on TV repeatedly and his wife noticed that he's had no payments.
March 11, 200817 yr I wonder if Darius would even remember which publishers his songs are with. Some of his co-writers had exclusive deals which meant some of his songs have ended up with different ones. Would he know if one of the 'demo' b-sides had been picked up. I'm not sure Darius knew about The Way I Do until one of us asked him about it, and it was being played and sung live all over the world.
