again the government are on about adding flouride to mains water supplies in order to help control tooth decay. first introduced forceably by thatcher in the 80's (...oh and the boss of the company supplying the flouride was...... dennis thatcher!...talk about sleeze, corruption) its now back on the agenda.

should the government force us to consume flouride in drinking water, mass medication, without consulting us? shouldnt we have the right to decide?

NO FUKKIN' WAY!!!!! Isn't it a fact that some people out there actually have allergic reactions to flouride?? What the fukk are they supposed to do ffs???? Bathe or shower in bloody EVIAN???? <_< <_< <_<

I thoroughly object to the Govt pumping medications into our water supply without our consent, I dont give a toss how alledgedly "beneficial" it might be... Today, flouride, tomorrow, low levels of PROZAC maybe.....? -_-

I don't see the problem in Australia they have it in the water and there is no ill effect, its the same as putting folic acid in bread, which they have done. It does more good than harm

It's not the same at all... You can choose to buy bread without folic acid... If the govt goes around putting things in the water supply, where is the free choice...? In principle, we should not accept any Govt 'medicating' our water supply... There's flouride in the vast majority of toothpastes (if people are too stupid or lazy to brush their teeth regularly then that's their fault surely..), it does NOT need to be added to the water supply....

True. I have great teeth! :D

But then, I'm not allergic to flouride. So I can see why a lot of people wouldn't want it in their water.

I remember reading ages ago that it also was suspected to be a culprit in behaviour and learning difficulties in young kids.

But haven't read anything unanimous. Either way, I'm suspect with what most governments do, so I say NO FLUORIDE.

Spot on.. And what, god forbid, if some tw@t actually fukks up with the levels of flouride being put into the water...?

Nanny state action again.

I take it Rob you're not in favour of this although you are of other nanny state action?

no im not although every case has to be considered on its own merits. i dont think that every 'nanny state' measure is a bad thing... after all, we have grown up with laws, health service, police etc etc :)

It certainly aint good for the people who are allergic to it.....

After reading this article, I am now opposed to this measure more than ever... I absolutely maintain that brushing your teeth twice a day with a flouride-based toothpaste is more than sufficient to sensibly prevent tooth decay, there is no need for this measure... As the article says synthetic, chemical flouride (which is what we're talking about here...) should not be swallowed.....

I don't see how it will help somebody who drinks nothing but coca-cola anyway - and there are plenty out there. The only time they would use tap water would be to brush their teeth which they probably aren't doing.

Spot on... If people cant be bothered to brush their teeth twice a day or drink a few less glasses of Coke, tough tittie I say... Why the fukk should the rest of us have unnecessary medication forced onto us...?
