Posted February 8, 200817 yr Leona has landed! http://img.perezhilton.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/perezleona69171__oPt.jpg We met up with one of our faves on Thursday! The gorgeous and talented Leona Lewis is in Los Angeles. The X Factor champ is performing at music mogul Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party this weekend. We met up with the Bleeding Love singer at her rehearsal and caught up a bit. Leona told us to expect something juicy at the Brit Awards, for which she received four nominations. We will be there in person later this month, and we can't wait. But until then….. Operation Conquer America has begun! http://perezhilton.com/2008-02-08-leona-has-landed Can't wait! She's gonna perform in front of some of the best in the industry!
February 8, 200817 yr woo can't wait to see this, and a Brits performance, I hope she carries on doing well :D

February 10, 200817 yr tbh i wasnt blown away...i think the performance was better in Switzerland! i dont think the crowd would have thought she was as special as Clive made out...which is not what i was hoping. and why do they keep tinkering with bleeding love...leave it the way it is!

Agreed on all accounts... I think her nerves got the better of her personally.
February 11, 200817 yr Author tbh i wasnt blown away...i think the performance was better in Switzerland! i dont think the crowd would have thought she was as special as Clive made out...which is not what i was hoping. and why do they keep tinkering with bleeding love...leave it the way it is! "Bleeding Love" wasn't her best, like you said, her nerves took over. But I thought "First Time" was absolutely stunning and I think people would have been impressed by that. Leona's wrote a really cute blog on the whole night: http://www.leonalewismusic.co.uk/index.php...g/grammy_party/ Also mentions the videos for BIT/FITS. :) Edited February 11, 200817 yr by Ethereal

February 11, 200817 yr She never sang that very well :( Worst BL performance yet :( I wonder what's wrong
February 11, 200817 yr Me thinks she has damaged her throat hitting all of those big notes so often... hopefully it'll get better soon :(
February 12, 200817 yr totally agreed, it was the 1st time she hasn't impressed me. it was her worst performance of BL as you have said! tbh the first time was ok but hardly outstanding. she's gonna have to step it up, or else they will start to dub her in the US- 'the half-price' Mariah! god, i cant believe i'm saying this...but get it together! and i hope she can show them what she can do!
February 12, 200817 yr Bleeding love was good, First time ever I saw your face was brilliant I thought.
February 12, 200817 yr It wasn't her BEST performance I agree....but it definately wasn't too bad either!! Remember - just over 18 moths ago she was a nobody like us lot going about everyday life working as a temp in an office. Now she's nervously walking out on stage at a mega-star-studded bash in America and the realisation hit her just how much her life's changed in such a short time. As in the XFactor, she started off nervously but blossomed into a confident performer. This huge step-up is akin to that, and I think once she's had a few days adjusting to what's happening out there - she'll go back into her confident performer mode again. There was still enough evidence for all there, to see just what a fantastic voice she has anyway I think.....!
February 12, 200817 yr Author ^ Exactly. I think if maybe the stage had been further away because it was such an intimate performance, I bet she could see some of the huge stars staring back at her. She got through it though and can learn from the experience, I think her voice is still getting better as she had tonsilitus a few weeks back.
February 14, 200817 yr Interesting comparison here on how someone who’s got LOADS of stage-presence and confidence - Alicia Keys - against a very nervous and almost little-girl-lost type of performance from our Leona. Watch Leona’s performances 1st, follwed by Miss Keys’ “No One” a bit further down the list.....she just OWNS the stage..... It’s Leona’s stupendous voice that rescues her somewhat - but she was oh-so nervous....and don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame her one little bit - I wouldn’t have been able to raise much more than a squeak if I was as nervous as she obviously was - it’s just that she must’ve realised that this was THE big stage for her, and potentially make or break for her US career prospects (though I’d tend to disagree with that really, as I’m sure she will have loads of more opportunities in the next few weeks - courtesy of Clive and Simons contacts, to showcase her talents a bit more like what we know they are REALLY like....) February 14, 200817 yr Author Well obviously Alicia Keys is going to be full of confidence, she's been in the industry for years and has performed in front of superstars countless times.
