Girls Aloud have taken a swipe at "indie clones" on their latest song.

'Hoxton Heroes', the B-side to the group's new single 'Can't Speak French', features the lyrics: "You're off your face like you're number one. How many tracks have you sold? Hmm… none."

It continues: "Just 'cause your dad knew the Rolling Stones... don't kid yourself, you're an indie clone."

The Observer recently reported that the song was deemed "too controversial" to appear on the group's Tangled Up album.

Last year Girls Aloud collaborated with indie four-piece Franz Ferdinand, recording a cover of David Bowie's 'Sound And Vision' for a Radio 1 compilation album.
