Posted February 9, 200817 yr Another week bombs by. Here is the selection of chart action, courtesy of Dave Taylor (davericktaylor@yahoo.co.uk). This week, the new album chart, a look back to 1992, this week`s films, the new singles/track chart, and ending up with a lovey dovey Valentine selection of some 30 favourite love songs circa 1955 - 2008. Mostly Valentine related. Also in the top 30 are WITH LOVE X, REAL LOVE, POWER OF LOVE, DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS (goes back up), R + B LOVE SONGS goes down. Will ONE NIGHT ONLY go to number one next week? Or will it be other new entries from MORRISEY, LAURA MARLING, or a VA Compilation? Who remembers 1992, and the albums... w/k ending 15th Feb 1992 01 01 HIGH ON THE HAPPY SIDE - WET WET WET 02 02 STARS - SIMPLY RED 03 03 WE CAN`T DANCE - GENESIS 04 08 NO REGRETS 65 - 76 - WALKER BROTHERS 05 05 REAL LOVE - LISA STANSFIELD 06 14 DANGEROUS - MICHAEL JACKSON 07 04 GREATEST HITS II - QUEEN 08 06 ULTIMATE RAVE - VARIOUS ARTISTS 09 11 FINALLY - CE CE PENNISTON 10 07 NEVER MIND - NIRVANA 11 09 SIMPLY THE BEST - TINA TURNER 12 13 EMOTIONS - MARIAH CAREY 13 10 SPOOKY - LUSH 14 NE KAOS THEORY - VARIOUS ARTISTS 15 17 TIME LOVE AND TENDERNESS - MICHAEL BOLTON The Wets proving the case in 92. Valentine movement for the WALKER BROTHERS (funnily enough NO REGRETS, as a single was a cover of a 1968 song). LISA STANSFIELD, MARIAH CAREY, MICHAEL BOLTON again moving with 14th Feb! But a lack of Compilations (maybe a week too early). 1992`s singles chart... w/k ending 15th Feb 1992 01 04 I`M DOIN FINE NOW - PASADENAS 02 01 GOODNIGHT GIRL - WET WET WET 03 06 STAY - SHAKESPEARS SISTER 04 03 TWILIGHT ZONE - 2UNLIMITED 05 05 I WONDER WHY - CURTIS STIGERS 06 NE REMEMBER THE TIME - MICHAEL JACKSON 07 02 GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME - KYLIE MINOGUE 08 08 THE BOUNCER - KICKS LIKE A MULE 09 16 FOR YOUR BABIES - SIMPLY RED 10 11 DIXIE-NARCO E.P. - PRIMAL SCREAM 11 10 BORN ON FRUSTRATION - JAMES 12 27 STEEL BARS - MICHAEL BOLTON 13 09 EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE E.P. Probably not even heard since 92. The PASADENAS only made the top, on the MRIB chart and of course, was a re-make of the 1973 top 20 hit, for NEW YORK CITY. WET WET WET had a bit of a surprise charttopper with GOODNIGHT GIRL. SHAKESPEARS SISTER seemed to be there forever with STAY (an apt title). MICHAEL JACKSON scoring with another hit from the DANGEROUS album. KYLIE covering a CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD top 5 hit from 1970 (when Kylie herself, was just 2 years old). "You`re Not on the list, you`re not coming in", was the taunt by THE BOUNCER at 8. E.Ps everywhere with PRODIGY, PRIMAL SCREAM and the WONDER STUFF. Lots of album material, being released as singles, for SIMPLY RED, MICHAEL BOLTON, and CE CE PENNISTON. The WEDDING PRESENT were on there second monthly hit with GO-GO DANCER (they released a single every month, for the whole of 1992). In 92, the MANIC STREET PREACHERS singles used to stay around longer, than just one week! MY GIRL failed to sell well, in the 1965 period (being covered by OTIS REDDING at the time). Here the song all over a tv ad, finally hit the top 3, in 92. GOD GAVE ROCK N` ROLL TO YOU, originally hit the top 30, in 1973 for ARGENT. CURTIS STIGERS was all over radio 2, with the likes of BRIAN HAYES, KEN BRUCE, ED STEWART and JOHN DUNN playing him constantly. Also in 1992 on Radio 2, ED STEWART launched the short lived easy listening album chart, on a Monday afternoon. Right, back up to date, here are this week`s top films... w/k ending 15/02 01 NE CLOVERFIELD 02 01 SWEENEY TODD DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET 03 NE OVER HER DEAD BODY 04 NE PENELOPE 05 04 NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN 06 03 PS I LOVE YOU 07 07 ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 08 05 ST TRINIANS 09 NE UNDERDOG 10 02 ALIEN VS PREDATOR No surprise, for much talked about CLOVERFIELD. Never a fan of films like ALIEN VS PREDATOR, utter nonsense, for my money. Down an 8 place fall to number 10! The dvd chart is missing this week, so straight to the singles. Here`s the top 45, this week... w/k ending 15/02 45 NE NEW SOUL - YAEL NAIM 44 37 DREAM CATCH ME - NEWTON FAULKNER 43 35 GOODBYE MR A - HOOSIERS 42 34 ABOUT YOU NOW - SUGABABES 41 33 THIS IS THE LIFE - AMY MACDONALD 40 31 SOME KINDA RUSH - BOOTY LUV 39 27 BLEEDING LOVE - LEONA LEWIS 38 29 HEARTBROKEN - T2/JODIE AYSHA 37 17 STILL FIGURING OUT - ELLIOT MINOR 36 32 HOMETOWN GLORY - ADELE 35 28 SHE`S SO LOVELY - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 34 NE FROM YESTERDAY - 30 SECONDS FROM MARS 33 49 THE GIRL IS MINE 08 - MICHAEL JACKSON/WILL I AM 32 NE SCREAM - TIMBALAND/KERI HILSON/NICOLE SCHWERZINGER 31 24 MOVING TO NEW YORK - WOMBATS 30 25 RELAX-TAKE IT EASY - MIKA 29 23 CALL THE SHOTS - GIRLS ALOUD 28 NE WHO`S GOT A MATCH - BILLY CLYRO 27 26 WHAT HURT`S THE MOST - CASCADA 26 19 RULE THE WORLD - TAKE THAT 25 20 VALERIE - RONSON/WINEHOUSE 24 21 NO ONE - ALICIA KEYS 23 14 HOMECOMING - KANYE WEST 22 22 WOW - KYLIE MINOGUE 21 18 APOLOGISE - ONE REPUBLIC 20 13 BE MINE - ROBYN 19 15 RIDE IT - JAY SEAN 18 16 JUST FINE - MARY J. Can it possibly make 6? Will GOLDFRAPP or THE FEELING knock it off next week? Well done to WET WET WET, not equaling the 1992 number one! But a top 10 entry for something with virtually no downloads, must be something. Outside the top 45, mainly songs that have been around forever, but in the top 60, there is DUFFY, FLO RIDA, VAMPIRE WEEKEND, CRAIG DAVID and the dowloads keep BLOOD RED SHOES out, of the top 50! Look out for future new hits from, ONE REPUBLIC, SUGABABES, and ADDICTIVE with T2. Don`t forget Next Week`s Chart, Monday at 4pm, and we will discover why Michael Jackson, did not make it in the national chart top 30, this week! Edited February 15, 200817 yr by trevs
February 9, 200817 yr 03 06 STAY - SHAKESPEARS SISTER One of my favourite singles of all-time, the following week it climbed to #1, and stayed there for 7 weeks. The video to it was very haunting, it gave me nightmares
February 9, 200817 yr Another thing it was very good year for #1s very minimum, around 12 in total, Erasure with their Abbes-esque EP, KC & The Sunshine Band, Jimmy Nail, Shamen, Snap 'Rhythm Is A Dancer' Charles & Eddie, Boyz II Men, and not forgetting the 10 weeker from Whitney Houston -_- And the beautiful Sleeping Satellite by Tasmin Archer

February 9, 200817 yr ??? Wasn't it K.W.S.??? Yes it was my fault the song was a cover of the old KC & The Sunshine Band track, that's how I got confused
February 9, 200817 yr Author ??? Wasn't it K.W.S.??? It was in 92, but KC and the Sunshine Band had the original in 1979. But the KWS hit, was a rip off, of a song (already around) for a chap called DOUBLE YOU.

I know, I remember! ;) Double You? was very big in continental Europe while KWS's version was hot in the UK (and maybe Ireland) only. Anyway I like them both!

February 9, 200817 yr Author What`s the Romeo and Juliet theme on the Valentine chart? Well if you know Simon Bates` "Our Tune", you would recognise it as the piece of music that Simon, talks over when he does it! For that music is, the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet, and was a U.S. number one single in 1969.
