What if Darius had been offered the role of Rhett and turned it down to complete his album and we found out later, what would we have thought of the decision?

I would have found it very very hard to swallow because sometimes I think in the past Darius and/or his people have made mistakes and he hasn't built on foundations.

To his surprise he got it and in my mind he took the only possible decision - do it and try to progress as much of the album as he can in his spare time.

I would have been gutted. If people like his music, they will wait for those extra months...and this role may bring him to the attention to more people

I certainly would have found it hard to understand if he had turned it down, unless he had something else in the pipeline....loads of gigs.

He really does need to do something like this to get back in the public eye and build his fan base before he releases anything otherwise a new album wont do anything no mater how good it is.

I just hope he has time to record without getting too tired.

His role as Rhett must come first, he's got to be spectacular every night.

I agree. If Darius has to shelve the album for a while, then he must. He cannot please everyone all of the time and if he tries he'll end up exhausted.

What if it came to Broadway or the release of a new single and it's promotion here?

I think he needs to do Broadway.

He might not get a chance like that again.

It also depends on how soon it opens...or if it does.

He may be able to promote, release then do Broadway.....that would be great :D talk about having your cake and eating it :)

He has always said that he would delay the album if something irrisistable came up.

yes, Broadway - to me the album is something that very well could wait, to be honest in this day and age I would be just as excited if he just gave us some downloads from his site, I hold no illusions that just because an album is great it will chart well. the Kudos from the stage roles would far outweigh any new album, even if it was astoundingly good..whose to say it would even get a play,

I'm still playing Dive In more than any album barring Live Twice of course, that I've bought in the last 5 years.

I love the spirit behind those songs. Totally irrepressable. They couldn't have been written by anyone but Darius!

That Tommy guy got one thing right - it is immense.

In West End terms Darius is only a beginner. He's never done a really long run. (That's understandable, now we know a bit more about what he was up to in LA)

true, by play I mean outside the fans who would buy his album anyway on the strength of the music. outside that it always seems his releases get the minimum exposure possible..he could easily release an album and no one bar us woudl be any the wiser, given his past support in the musc industry.
I know I've said before, it was when Capital took over a rival group of stations and, overnight, he went from their most requested to never played. Some stations would not even let you request him anymore - that's not based on the music, that's based on trying to kill his career. It is totally wrong when top 10 records will not be played.

yes, it is staringly obvious these days - its about making sure the "ones" chosen and invested are the next big thing, and that means the GBP dont get to hear anything much else on mainstream but what the big labels want them to hear!

One week at no.98 before the release of Live Twice, says it all. It was a blanket refusal to put him on playlists. Ithad absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the song. He wouldn't have appeared at all if it hadn't been for Radio 2.

My daughter heard it at 2am and said what abrilliant track - not knowing it was D. It was the only time I heard it. I listened to the same station again at the same time - and it was played. They'd had to put it on their playlist and this is how they got around it.
It makes you proud that despite it all, he kept his head up, kept a balance in his life and has a wider based career than ever.
And was lovely, didn't call anyone, just said that there are more important things in life. I can't help but like a person like him.

It's a good way to be as there's nothing he can do about it. It has saved me a lot of money as I don't listen to radio now and therefore, don't get tempted to buy music. In the last 3yrs, I've bought less than at any other time in my life from the age of 8.
