dont know the years but i would have a guess that the show was mid 1990s as it had dana international on it and the wiki board says she won in 1998 but the show didnot mention this

Don't know but Elton John's Candle In The Wind was #1 in Canada for over 1 year!

I always thought that was the record holder????

From Wikipedia:

It eventually sold 4.86 million copies in the UK, overtaking "Do They Know It's Christmas?" to become the best-selling single of all time in the UK. It also sold over 11 million copies in the U.S. (again the all-time best-selling single) after receiving advance orders of nearly 9 million, and was number one in most countries around the world (in Canada, it spent three years in the top 20, with 45 weeks at the top spot). In total, over 33 million copies were sold around the world, making it the best-selling single of all-time worldwide.

The singles market is DEAD in Canada, once Toni Braxton made #1 there by selling just over 100 copies of a single as like the US it's dominated by airplay, well was until downloads were added into the equation.

But still 45 weeks at #1 is rather impressive and they were non consecutive weeks too, I think it's last time at #1 was in 1999!

God #1 for a YEAR?

To think in today's rules and regulations, if that happened in the UK chart it would be deleted from the chart the week it was set to fall from #1.
