Posted May 22, 200619 yr With such acts as Carola, Abba and loads more...Sweden hardly ever fail to make the top 10 of the Eurovision, infact they've come 5th in 4 of the last 6 contests (Friends, Fame, Lena Philipsson, Carola) Abba is the most successful winning act of all time and its a rare year when they bring anything worse than an excellent europop song... Apart from The UK and Ireland, surely this is the biggest ever country in the contest, and it certainly holds up well...All the other countries nowadays seem to be one year wonders...if Finland, Russia or Bosnia come in the top 5 next year I'll be surprised...but I'm sure that Sweden will be in the top 10 with an excellent pop song :cheer:
May 22, 200619 yr Ireland is a 'non-big 4' country and of course russia is quite a large country if you are just going by land mass
May 22, 200619 yr Author Ireland were big with the wins but how often did they come in the top 5 when they didn't win?
May 22, 200619 yr Swedish Eurovision voters certainly find the songs that represents the nation perfectly. I think Sweden has gained trademark for pure pop heaven over the years they have participated in Eurovision. Of course they have made some mistakes, like last year, when Nanne Grönwall and Håll om mig could have made it to the very top. As a finnish person, i`d love Finland to find the similar enthusiam toward Eurovision Song Contest. This year`s win was purely coincidental, just right time and right place. Finnish people are dark and gloomy, so Lordi represents us very well. It will be nice to see if we establish the similar kind of rock pop next year a la Rasmus, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, HIM and others.
May 22, 200619 yr Author Oh Rasmus :-0 I forgot about them I was trying to think of crossover Finnish acts and I came up with Him Darude Lordi Bomfunk MC's

God, I ADORE that song  With the exception of last year, Sweden are usually brilliant entries as they really put a lot of work into picking the songs :cheer:
