Agreed, Ugly was pretty appalling - but compare any of the 3 singles they've released these past few months with 90% of their other singles - Push The Button, Overload, Freak Like Me etc..... they really seem to be on a rapid downward creative slope. They've lost their edginess. Denial is.. hmm... it's ok.... but for a band in their position, with their track record... 'ok' just aint enough - they should be employing the most cutting-edge, hip and current writers and producers and carrying on that pretty fabulous pop career they had before this album, where it seems their pop edge has been neutered and watered down - it's a bit more 'pap' than 'pop' for them of late.

Perhaps losing Mutya was the final nail - although, saying that - their version of I Bet You Loook Good On The Dancefloor was incredible, just after she left - totally wasted on a b-side and the last time the girls seemed to take any chances musically.

I've said this before - but whilst Siobhan Donaghy is making downright awesome stuff like her last album - her old bandmates really need to pull their fingers out.

The progressive diluting of the line up is also a major factor. it recalls the classic one-too-many-sequels film trajectory, what with all the interesting characters being replaced by more and more washed out wannabies.

talking about denial...the video for About You Now said it all about what the people at Island have decided Sugabes now officially stand for. a long advert for Bumble and Bumble with a catchy tune behind it. so much for edginess.

This is why i like Girls Aloud more than Sugababes (Only just though lol) because Girls Aloud yeah they do covers but they release something NEW and Edgy and thats why they have more Consecutive Top 10 hits than any other British Girl band! Sugababes are just successful because (Yeah theresongs are good) but they do Original songs but they sound similar to previous hits or we heard it all before!

Why the hell am i saying all this when i prefer the Sugas new stuff! haha! lol

The song's a grower but it's not a favourite of mine, top 10 if it's a slow week.

I love this

I reckon #4, one place BEHIND "Can't Speak French" :D

easily top 10, if the downloads don't kill it too early.

think it will sell very well regardless of its peak.

just look at change, it peaked at #13 and has out sold red dress which peaked at #4

well I voted top10...but possibly top5!

I Love Denial...one of the best tracks on Change and the video is great too! let's wait and see how the airplay & promotion goes...

Sugababes tends to be mosre album seller than singles seller (especially once the album is released)...i'm pretty sure Denial will help the album to climb ;)

It seems much better than about you now.

Sugababes have come out with some decent pop tracks: easy, red dress, freak like me, hole in the head, but I'm kind of getting worried about their latest hits recently. About you now was average.

The problem for Sugababes it that the their 1st single from an album does really well, the album is released and the subsequent singles don't follow through. Change did well though considering its peak chart position was #13. They were probably harmed by having the download of it from the album allowed onto the chart before the actual single was released.

100% agree with that. Ive always said, if your first single does well, your later singles pay for it.

I think for denial to do well, it had to be something really good and really different and i'm not sure it is. Its an ok song but it needs to be amazing to go top 5 say. I think early downloads will also ruin its position, its downloads may peak before the release week.

I like the song! I would say it's roughly on par with Change, but Change is bland and boring after several listens so I think this song is a bit more appealing.

I voted Top 20. I can see it reaching about the same peak as Change or they may clinch a low Top Ten spot... #11-#14 is my guess.
