There's no Guardian on a Sunday, megham. The paragraph in spamfritter's post is the one from today's Observer.

There's also "but it's probablyThe National's "The Year Of Magical Thinking that will (after Gone With the Wind) be the hottest ticket of the season."

The year of magical thinking stars Vanessa Redgrave

It's true it isn't much but apart from the annoying PI reference it's positive about D.

I wonder why the alerts and link was from The Guardian then? Are the two from the same stable?

I liked the bit 'looks like a ticket worth securing before the show goes into preview on 4 April.'

I supppose that bit "his voice should hit the spot" means D's singing voice, rather than his speaking voice.

Personally I am rather partial to D's speaking voice. I don't have a favourite accent from those he's affected for his work but I do love his own cultured Glaswegian one.

His voice is good, soft and considerate - but just wouldn't work here. He has a booming voice when he wants to and that should be perfect for this part.

Yes, they'll be the same group

thanks BT! saves me getting this

as for GWTW, I think whether it has a long run or not, Darius will benefit from being given credibility by Sir trevor Nunn - a lot of actors have been in musicals or plays that didnt take off - that is not the actors faults, I am hoping this will do well though, time will tell everything is so competetive these days

With so many seeming to think that selecting the cast on reality shows will give the show more success than it just being great quality, it's a bit worrying. I don't think 'Joseph' or 'Sound of Music' would have had the success they have had if not for the programs.

If GWTW goes very well, do you think Darius should go at the end of his contract or extend?

I'm not sure he could get the album out this year, even if he gets everything he has to do done soon, because I read something from a group who said they just had 3 weeks to finish their album in order to get it ready for release in September.

Connie and Lee were both trained and Lee had done some work in the West End and on tours.

It remains to be seen whether being on those shows will be a millstone for Connie, Lee and the other boys from the touring Joseph.

The runner up Marias are in a better position, the show opened audition doors and their talent has taken them into various shows. The same goes for Daniel Boyes who's now doing brilliantly in Avenue Q and Ben James Ellis who's in Hairspray.

Totally agree with this. however I also feel that releasing PR for GWTW to broadsheets like the guardian, observer etc is limiting GWTW appeal to the tabloid readers who would go if they knew about it yet I realise that trevor nunn being highly thought of is why it is considered the right thing to do but it could be cutting the audiences i n half. maybe that was the trend for les mis. I do wonder if in that case D may not make appearances on gmtv etc or not as many certainly not loose woman for example if they are trying to keep it "up market". Hope im wrong.

I'm sure that if anything was released, it would have been to the press in general. The observer was doing it's piece about Spring Highlights this week . Others may be waiting for costume photoshoots or such. It was only when the pics came out of Darius as Billy and Sky that he got any tabloid coverage in the past.
The publicity will start in a little while (I know I'm repeating myself) We'll see lots of programs covering it as it's such a big event. It really wont be long now. We just have to hold on for a while, it usually goes mad as previews start or just before.
Patience was never one of my strengths though Meg  Come to think of it, I can't really think what any of my strengths are
I sit and chaff while I'm waiting and I've always known I'd have to wait. How daft is that?

Can anyone else view the three videos on the GWTW home site? They won't play

for me.

There is nothing there to click. Just a tiny flickering curled roll of

film with three blurred letters on it.

Is it on this link?

http://www.gwtwthemusical.com/

The flag waves and then takes me into a page with a list of options on the left hand side. I click on Sights and Sounds and then on Sights and get the choice of 3 old fashioned movie cameras. I click on one and then I get the blank screen. I then click the play arrow.
