It's nice to see new things on the GWTW site but what I'm most interested in are some song clips. Surely they'll go up when the previews start.

That Atlanta article was so right "little news has leaked about the show" . When you think of it, everything has come from offical sources - the photoshoot with Darius and Jill, the video clips, the documentary, the explanation about the set and costumes and sample songs - all info so far has come from those sources, other than one unnamed cast member and an interview with William Brohn.

They are leaving promotion very late, lots of people dont realise its on or that D is in it certainly not in my area.
Broadwayworld.com have a very long thread along the same lines e.g.no hype, no buzz etc.etc.

Neil and I went to the Ideal Home Exhibition on Saturday and I thought I would count the number of 'Gone With the Wind' posters I saw . I saw.... ONLY 1!!!!! and that was down the escalator at Holborn, which is supposed to be the closest station to the theatre!!! I only hope that from this week promotion really gets going!!!

My Mum told me that Steve Allen mentioned on LBC that D was taking the part of Rhett in GWTW - hopefully that means he may have an interview with him like he did when D was appearing in Chicago!

I hope so. So much time is taken up filming, they haven't had much opportunity to get going. Maybe they're confident that word of mouth will be such good promotion. I remember when Darius was billy Flynn the first time. It went from rerally negative to people queuing to see him in it - on his merit not on what people preconceived it to be.

Just been over to have a look - several people are very negative once they have found out D is playing Rhett!! Just ignorance on their part!!!! Someone posted a while back that tickets for April and May were selling really well - I hope they are right because with the severe lack of promotion so far that must bode well!!! :yahoo:

I have seen lots of GWTW posters at tube stations - there were several at Marylebone on Staturday (approx 4) seen them locally as well.
i agree meg. even one of the phtos we have seen would surely make a difference to interest. Its v ery impersonal as it is. Not looking good to me for raising interest, it could be anyone unknown in it the way it is portrayed. Think they have made a mistake.

Is the title on the posters a good size?

On its own the artwork is like one of those pictures where your eye sees one of two possible things first e.g the faces or wine glass.

I think I saw a burnt flag first but didn't realise the burning background formed the shape of a couple.

Another bit from the USA. Isn't it funny how there's more about this in America than here.

ATLANTA -- Talk about holding a grudge.

One day you toss the tyrannical mother country's load of Lipton into Boston's harbor. The next -- give or take some 235 years -- she retaliates by turning your beloved Gone With the Wind into a musical.

Gone With the Wind: The Musical will open April 22 in London's famed West End.

The musical is the brainchild of a novice playwright who spent two years creating songs before she approached author Margaret Mitchell's estate for rights to the book.

The production will star Jill Paice, a Beavercreek native known for her work in Broadway's Curtains, as Scarlett O'Hara. Scotsman Darius

Danesh will play Rhett Butler. Trevor Nunn (Cats) will direct.

TCM is making a behind-the-scenes documentary about the musical to be shown April 20, but only in England.

Little news has leaked out about the show, which was written by Margaret Martin, who has a doctorate in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles.

There are new actors' blogs on GWTW homepage but I can't make them play.

Ah.. I've now got the hang of it........was pressing the wrong button.

Each actor/actress introduces him/herself and announces which part they are playing, what they would choose to do if they were not actors and tells what they were doing when they heard they had been given the part.

I wish he'd not interupted her.

A lot them seemed uninterested....and camera shy....not very good promotion.

I hope to goodness the documentary is much improved
