I think the problem is that the BBC is not supposed to be biased in favour of private individuals or companies. It is a public broadcasting company.

If Kevin Spacey's promo put as much money in the TV's company's pocket as A L Webber's, I am sure they would accommodate him.
true, I think it has been mentioned before, possible by Sir trevor about Llyod's clever idea to kill two birds with one stone with the series - then there was Hollyoaks promo for maria - I wonder if Llyod had to fork out for that(not that he owuld miss a million or two) - money begets money in all things

Exactly Bramley. This little argument is splashed over a number of sites and the word jealousy comes into it.I have also noted that the BBC wanted a handcuff deal with ALW and who can blame them when you read that Grade of ITV is said to be wanting to do jesus christ super star with ALW, how true this is I dont know but one thing is for sure the ITV cannot hold a candle to the BBC in putting on an entertainment show. the BBC have it all right colourful, well rehearsed and slick. SC take note. Mind you Itv are very good at copying i.e. dancing on ice surely copies production from bbc strictly come dancing. Much prefer BBCs production of these shows and in such shows as cranford and larkrise at candleford both excellent.

I think I'd Do Anything is one show too many, too quickly.

I didn't mind ADWD following quickly on HDYSAPLM because I thought it justly fair that since Maria was only for females, there should be something similar for the guys.

Now it's back to a female and it's looking more like the BBC's substitute for X Factor

these shows bore me rigid, IMO a stage show has a casting director for casting, not relying on public votes, its such a con to get the public involved, then them wanting to go see "their favourite" in the show - I'll stick to the apprentice at present
Yes but introducing the public to the theatre and musical stage is a good thing. I dont see it is any different than simon cowell introducing his record artistes to the public in the long run and in intervals during his shows in order to sell records.,but then I have always been a fan of musical theatre going back a long way. I must admit dont take on board the voting process just the talent of musical theatre which ousts x factor by miles and bearing in mind they have to do 8 shows a week which is a heavy load compared to the artistes SC produces.
I haven't watched either Apprentice or the Choosing of Nancy show. I think T V has overloaded with reality shows.
reality TV just does not appeal - as I've said before, it was purely accidental that I came across Darius and that was a very lucky accident.
Back then reality shoes were a novelty.Popstars was nine years ago!

Popstars wasn't shown until January 2001, although it was actually recorded many months before.

Hear'say were hidden away in a secret location and trained how to be a group so that they were ready to release and promote their single right after the judges choices were known.

Pop Idol auditions started in the autumn of the same year.

I guess it just feels more like nine years to me BT......so long ago!
Well the Oliver show certainly appeals to the public, the audience figures were up from 4 million to over 7 million this week.

Waiting for something always seems longer and boy has Darius made us wait.................. but at the end of each long wait , we say "that was well worth it" as he astounds us yet again.

It's funny but losing one day of performances was one of the hardest for me. How daft is that?
I have tickets for the 5th - thy're just not as good as the ones on the 4th - and we all can't go.
It's a real shame about the 4th Meg :( but I am pleased you can still make the 5th :) Looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing some new pics of D if you get the chance :) I wish I could have been there :( but looking forward to going on the 7th :)
