I can only count 4 with Darius - I'm Your Man, Nobody Knows You, Once Upon A Time and Alone. Am I missing something or is 5 the number of your favourite songs, whether Darius is on them or not. I'd add Gone With the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara again, The women's song and my joint show favourite with Alone - On The Wings Of A Dove

It's going to be awful seeing the closure notices.
It's going to be awful on it's last night. I love this show. It's one i would have gone back to every couple of months - except there isn't going to be any couple of months. I think they gave up. What happened to the promotion they were supposed to be doing? one woman told me that no one even knew it was on until Darius was seen on 'The Wright Stuff'.

The last performance is going to be sooo emotional. Don't know how they'll get through it, and the audience

will be emotional wrecks. Don't envy you going, Meg.

Despite all that, I very much envy you , megham.

I always seem destined not to be at Darius's first or last nights apart from his very first night in Chicago.

This isn't the time to blame anyone but I agree a bigger marketing budget used much sooner would have helped.

There should have been a buzz before it was open. The critics should not be believed. Just because it's in print, doesn't mean it is more valid than any of the other of the thousand audience's opinion.
The buzz to some degree was counteracted by similar posts on the theatre sites running it down as much as they could before even having seen it. i.e ridiculing D getting the part etc etc. They are just as much to blame. To be quite honest I am disgusted by the whole set-up especiallyl when I saw the Nancy programme last night (although I predicted the winner from day 1) thius is a small part in comparison to what D has done (8 shows a week)yet it appears the winner will only be doing 4 shows a week yet posts say that you would need to be fully trained to be able to do 8 shows!!! I feel D has yet again been dealt a bad deal. he deserves so much better. The mail have posted a report but cant be bothered to post it.
it was odd, as it was prebooking way back..yet no promotion. And in this day of th elazy punter and reality tv brainwashing it didnt really stand a chance without heavy promotion..I dont get it at all, perhaps Trevor got his pay check from the three years working on it..the actual performance wasnt really that important?? aghast really, darius ws the star who stood out in the show, and the one promoting it so well -
There should have been a promotion campaign to whip up interest. let's face it, I wouldn't have gone if Darius hadn't been in it. it happens that i love the show, so that worked very well for me. There was nothintg that would make the public want to see it. The risk that it'd be like the film would have been enough to put me off. I do like the book though - it seemed a lot more real.

true, I wouldnt have gone if Darius wasnt in the muscial, I ws just amazed I loved it so much

The same people who were ridiculing Darius at the start, having seen him are now posting how good he was in the part.

He was - brilliant. I suppose we notice more because of the progress we've seen him make. He's an excellant rhett Butler.

Darius Danesh's flop musical Gone With The Wind closes

Jun 2 2008

DARIUS Danesh's flop musical Gone With The Wind has been axed after only 79 performances.

The Scots singer and actor had been praised for his performance as Rhett Butler in the £4million production.

But the show, directed by Trevor Nunn, finally fell victim to falling ticket sales and a mauling by the critics.

The end of the show is a setback for Darius, 27, from Bearsden, Glasgow.

The former Pop Idol contestant had been regarded as one of the rising stars of the West End after appearing in Chicago and the Olivier Award-winning Guys And Dolls.

The producers had hoped to take Gone With The Wind to Broadway but that move now seems unlikely.

Producer Aldo Scrofani said: "From the beginning of our journey, we have all worked hard to achieve the realisation of putting Margaret Mitchell's classic novel, Gone With The Wind on the London stage.

"Despite the critical response, the company have enjoyed much praise from audience members during our run and for that we are grateful.

"Nevertheless, we have made the difficult decision to close the production and plans for a New York production are on hold.

"But in the meantime, we are pursuing various options that have been presented to us from interested parties worldwide."

Thanks. That's slightly fairer than others so far in that it does actually admit That Darius was praised for his performance as Rhett.

Will anyone else dare cast him? I think that's my biggest worry. It's not enough to be one of the best if the media are always mauling you.
When you put it that way meg I had wondered if that was their cunningess in mauling the show but praising him with a view to bringing it down. after all he cant be allowed to prove them wrong can he.What is annoying me is trevopr nunns name is hardly bandied about there when it jolly, well should be.
