After failing to reach the semi-finals of the current contest Utopia has picked three acts in contention for the next one.

One of the reasons I ultimately did not choose Ladyhawke's Paris Is Burning to represent Nonsuch for BJSC8 was because I had heard a better song by her with another act whose last single also reached the Top 5 of my Personal Chart, which if I had not heard a better song since then (I have not yet), then I would have nominated it as the entry for Nonsuch in BJSC9.

 

I must stress that it is not your fault in anyway. If anything it is more a compliment that great minds think alike. :lol: But lets just say that by nominating that track now, it stuffs me up selection wise, as I personally think the song Embrace is a surefire Top 3 finish for the next competition.

 

But something really needs to be sorted regarding the rules as to when a song/artist can be selected before it spoils the game for too many people. As I was waiting for for the next BJSC9 nominations to be opened before formally announcing my nomination which if it had been today would have been that song.

 

We had the situation in BJSC7 where probably 5 or 6 or us would have selected Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl if we'd been able to but it was the first song nominated, and sure enough it won. That scenario is going to happen again, so something really needs to be sorted out once and for all regarding when a song can be selected by a country before it undermines the competition.

...just pick a different song, there are plenty to choose from in the world :lol: Embrace is amazing and even I was considering it not just because I love it but also because it won a similar competition on 'the other forum' the other week

Good to see people like it.... though in my defence I was going to do a late switch to it for the current contest, only to realise 'Paris Is Burning' had been chosen so wouldn't be able to!

There's also a radio edit for the song now!

 

 

I'm not relly sure which one to use though. I like the full version a lot more however I'm not sure how well a 5 and a half minute song would go down...

Out of the rest, I certainly vote for Blood Red Shoes out of the 4 which I find is your best choice, but members here are inclined not to go for Indie music, your last track for BBSC8 was top stuff :wub:

Utopia can confirm they're in talks with a US indie outfit to perform for them in BJSC XI as well as trying to lure a TV presenter out of musical retirement.
