June 23, 200817 yr I hosted BJSC5, so I know every song back to front from making that damn recap video :heehee:
June 23, 200817 yr Author I find it ironic that you noticed Girls Aloud's result but not Yelle's as they were in the same contest! :heehee: Really? LOL I only looked to see where it came as I could remember that.... It shall be Mal Poli instead then.. I've just looked back and I even gave it 7 points. :heehee: Edited June 23, 200817 yr by RabbitFurCoat
July 19, 200816 yr Author After failing to reach the semi-finals of the current contest Utopia has picked three acts in contention for the next one. Born Ruffians 'Hummingbird' OpZ2_B2hXmI PNAU ft Ladyhawke 'Embrace' eo2aOEhlqfQ Simian Mobile Disco 'Hustler' qzNTCxOJK3g
July 19, 200816 yr it has to be Embrace really doesn't it  be very interesting to see how that does over here...amazing song
July 19, 200816 yr Oh drat & double drat. One of the reasons I ultimately did not choose Ladyhawke's Paris Is Burning to represent Nonsuch for BJSC8 was because I had heard a better song by her with another act whose last single also reached the Top 5 of my Personal Chart, which if I had not heard a better song since then (I have not yet), then I would have nominated it as the entry for Nonsuch in BJSC9. I must stress that it is not your fault in anyway. If anything it is more a compliment that great minds think alike. But lets just say that by nominating that track now, it stuffs me up selection wise, as I personally think the song Embrace is a surefire Top 3 finish for the next competition. But something really needs to be sorted regarding the rules as to when a song/artist can be selected before it spoils the game for too many people. As I was waiting for for the next BJSC9 nominations to be opened before formally announcing my nomination which if it had been today would have been that song. We had the situation in BJSC7 where probably 5 or 6 or us would have selected Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl if we'd been able to but it was the first song nominated, and sure enough it won. That scenario is going to happen again, so something really needs to be sorted out once and for all regarding when a song can be selected by a country before it undermines the competition. :drama: Oh well, back to the drawing board - I have three potential songs, but none of them shouts Top 3 finish like this song does.

July 19, 200816 yr Author Good to see people like it.... though in my defence I was going to do a late switch to it for the current contest, only to realise 'Paris Is Burning' had been chosen so wouldn't be able to!
July 19, 200816 yr Author There's also a radio edit for the song now! VNgLj-2aYNo I'm not relly sure which one to use though. I like the full version a lot more however I'm not sure how well a 5 and a half minute song would go down...
July 19, 200816 yr the new radio edit is poor, don't use that... either use the long version or upload Dandy's radio edit and make a video for it on youtube yourself
July 22, 200816 yr Author The Knife and Patrick Wolf join the national final in place of PNAU giving four possible candidates.
July 27, 200816 yr Author Final 5: Blood Red Shoes 'This Is Not For You' 7Z8nnZuRvrg Born Ruffians 'Hummingbird' lXAStBDZRsI The Knife 'Pass This On' _VLnLs_-Ez4 Patrick Wolf 'The Magic Position' HeR9_7cACUc Simian Mobile Disco 'Hustler' qzNTCxOJK3g
July 27, 200816 yr Simian Mobile Disco video no longer available Out of the rest, I certainly vote for Blood Red Shoes out of the 4 which I find is your best choice, but members here are inclined not to go for Indie music, your last track for BBSC8 was top stuff
July 31, 200816 yr Author Born Ruffians and Simian Mobile Disco will NOT represent Utopia in BJSC9 leaving The Knife, Patrick Wolf and Blood Red Shoes as the final 3.
August 5, 200816 yr Any more opinions?! Yes, go for the song you like the most and to hell with how it does in the competition. If it does badly remember those who don't like it are wrong and you are right. :D
August 5, 200816 yr loads of people asking for opinions this time around :o I agree with Rich, go with your favourite one
August 5, 200816 yr Author This is true. However I've decided (as usual, it seems) to scrap them all...
September 20, 200816 yr Author Utopia can confirm they're in talks with a US indie outfit to perform for them in BJSC XI as well as trying to lure a TV presenter out of musical retirement.
