February 18, 200817 yr Author Great listing so far... not a bad song among them tbh (except 'Fit But You Know It' :puke2: ). Special mentions to Take Me Out, Somewhere Only We Know, Mr Brightside, Spitting Games, Can't Stand Me Now and All These Things That I've Done Thanks! ^_^ Yeah, really don't know what I saw if FBYKI now!
February 18, 200817 yr Author #16 Jimmy Eat World 'Pain' (01-01-01-05-05-09-13-14-18-22-20-18-19-22-28-34-35-37) (18 weeks) http://www.pyrrhus.be/Afbeeldingen/INTR4179.jpg Wow, I haven't listened to this for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages. I used to love a bit of JEW, this was never my favourite but they were released before this. I do think it's alright still, which surprised me a bit. Thought I'd have gone right off it. This kept the Zutons off with 'Don't Ever Think (Too Much)'. (#89)
February 18, 200817 yr Author #17 Graham Coxon 'Freakin' Out' (01-01-03-03-03-07-07-07-06-08-11-17-23-24-25-29-32-37) (18 weeks) http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00035W3PC.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00035W3...SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg The first re-issue to make the top spot. I did love a bit of Coxon but this was the song that really got me into him. I do now wish that 'Spectacular' and 'Bittersweet Bundle...' had made it instead but he's still worthy of a number one. This kept Kings Of Leon's 'The Bucket' and Snow Patrol's 'How To Be Dead' off the top. (#68) I shall call it a night as I psyche myself up to reveal the next, excrutiatingly painful, number one. I tell you now, it makes 'Fit But You Know It' seem like a superb choice. :(
February 18, 200817 yr Really great selection of indie/alternative so far. ^_^ Graham Coxon and The Killers (x2) would both have done very well for me if I had a chart then. I love Ash too, one of my favourite bands but I've gone off them a bit recently. Lostprophets are great too, but again their latest material disappointed me and a semi-decent Blink-182 song for a change as well. Look forward to seeing the rest. :D You have very good music taste.
February 19, 200817 yr Hi Mark, i like them all so far apart from American Idiot, which i hate, and Jimmy Eat World, which i don't really like ^_^
February 19, 200817 yr Great countdown so far! I'm inspred by this idea too, i mean with video links and chart runs.. how many charts did you make on the whole? Edited February 19, 200817 yr by smith_paul

February 19, 200817 yr Author Great countdown so far! I'm inspred by this idea too, i mean with video links and chart runs.. how many charts did you make on the whole? Thanks, I've been doing a chart for just over four years now so that would be around 215-220!
February 19, 200817 yr Author #18 U2 'Vertigo' (01-01-01-04-05-05-05-04-07-14-19-23-26-30-34) (15 weeks) http://www.ospreydesign.com/foreword/archives/vertigo-promo.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhWZ7bpfQag Eurgh. This is the only one of my number ones which I truly dislike. The other 3 I don't like I can still see why they appealed but this, I can't bear to listen to it any more. Still, must've liked it enough at the time and taste can't always be good. This kept Steriogram 'Walkie Talkie Man' and Jay Z/Linkin Park 'Numb/Encore' off the top! (#100)
February 19, 200817 yr Author #19 Babyshambles 'Killamangiro' (01-01-02-03-03-05-08-08-09-11-14-18-27-29-36) (15 weeks) http://albionsolutions.net/images/singles/killamangiro.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouvitGsX69Y The third and final number one involving Pete Doherty. I still think this was a really good single, just a shame the rest of their output turned out to be c**p. Well, most of the singles were ok, but apart from that... (#62)
February 19, 200817 yr Author #20 Green Day 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' (02-02-01-01-01-02-04-05-06-09-13-16-22-25-31) (15 weeks) http://www.greendayfan.co.uk/wp-content/img/Boulevard.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxfpMGLMZ7Y The song to end my first chart year at the top was the first song (excluding 'Take Me Out') ever to climb to number one! Released on the same week as Babyshambles I liked that more but this had more staying power and continued to grow. I don't like it as much now, but that's mainly down to the fact I've gone off Green Day. Still a decent song though. It kept Razorlight's 'Rip It Up' from the top spot for its final two weeks, which coincidentally was also released in the same week! (#75 - it was infact knocked off by the song I now rank directly behind it, I think this is the only case where two simultaneous number ones are ranked together now!)
February 19, 200817 yr Author 2004 round-up! As mentioned previously, 3 songs which didn't make number one made my top 10 singles of the year. Those being Jet 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?', Supergrass 'Kiss Of Life' and Razorlight 'Golden Touch'. All were kept off whilst 'Mr Brightside' was at the top! 2004 Number One's! 1 (wk ending) 11/01/2004 Basement Jaxx - Good Luck (1 week) 2 18/01/2004 Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (2 weeks) 3 01/02/2004 Lost Prophets - Last Train Home (2 weeks) -- 15/02/2004 Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out (1 week, 3 total) 4 22/02/2004 Keane - Somewhere Only We Know (2 weeks) 5 07/03/2004 Blink-182 - I Miss You (1 week) 6 14/03/2004 Jet Look What You’ve Done (3 weeks) 7 04/04/2004 Basement Jaxx - Plug It In (2 weeks) 8 18/04/2004 Wolfman ft Pete Doherty - For Lovers (2 weeks) 9 02/05/2004 Streets - Fit But You Know It (4 weeks) 10 30/05/2004 Killers - Mr Brightside (7 weeks) 11 18/07/2004 Snow Patrol - Spitting Games (1 week) 12 25/07/2004 Ash - Starcrossed (3 weeks) 13 15/08/2004 The Libertines - Can't Stand Me Now (3 weeks) 14 05/09/2004 Killers - All These Things That I've Done (2 weeks) 15 19/09/2004 Green Day - American Idiot (3 weeks) 16 10/10/2004 Jimmy Eat World - Pain (3 weeks) 17 31/10/2004 Graham Coxon - Freakin' Out (2 weeks) 18 14/11/2004 U2 - Vertigo (3 weeks) 19 05/12/2004 Babyshambles - Killamangiro (2 weeks) 20 19/12/2004 Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams (3 weeks) If I could go back in time this is how I'd put it. bold = a change! 1 Basement Jaxx 'Good Luck' 2 Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out' 3 Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out' 4 Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out' (#02) - actual position 5 Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out' (#02) 6 Franz Ferdinand 'Take Me Out' 7 Keane 'Somewhere Only We Know' 8 Keane 'Somewhere Only We Know' 9 Blink-182 'I Miss You' 10 Blink-182 'I Miss You' (#02) 11 N*E*R*D* 'She Wants To Move' (#03) 12 Sugababes 'In The Middle' (#03) 13 Basement Jaxx 'Plug It In' 14 Basement Jaxx 'Plug It In' 15 Wolfman ft Pete Doherty 'For Lovers' 16 Wolfman ft Pete Doherty 'For Lovers' 17 Wolfman ft Pete Doherty 'For Lovers' (#02) 18 Wolfman ft Pete Dohery 'For Lovers' (#04) 19 Morrissey 'Irish Blood, English Heart (#02) 20 Morrissey 'Irish Blood, English Heart (#03) 21 Jet 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl? February 19, 200817 yr From the 3 posted today, i like U2 and Babyshambles, but not really Green Day. Can't wait to see the rest B)
February 19, 200817 yr Author #21 Scissor Sisters 'Filthy/Gorgeous' (01-02-04-03-05-06-08-13-20-27-33-37) (12 weeks) http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0006ULVNY.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgI3BVWkuUc Something a tad different to open 2005. I'd always liked this song and was my favourite song on the album so was glad to see it released and it took advantage of there being not much out at the start of the year to get to the top. (#76)
February 19, 200817 yr Author #22 The Killers 'Somebody Told Me' (01-03-04-07-11-09-16-18-21-27-32-34-35-37) (14 weeks) http://funkyimg.com/u/82013Somebody_told_meJPG.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MachHzjTDA The first time with two back-to-back 1 week number ones. I'm not too fussed with this or The Killers themselves now but I was caught in Killers fever at the time and it still is quite a good song which was always going to be number one. (#90 - we're going to start getting to some decent numbers now...) More later (maybe) after I've been out to watch the football!
February 19, 200817 yr Author #23 The Chemical Brothers 'Galvanise' (01-01-01-03-04-09-14-17-22-27-30-31-35) (13 weeks) http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drg800/g856/g85692lp5vf.jpg The Chemical Brothers have always been a succesful act on my chart, this being their first number one. All of their singles have reached the top 3 and if I'd have started it earlier then my single of 2003 'The Golden Path' would've spent many weeks at the top too. This kept Athlete 'Wires' and Eminem's 'Like Toy Soldiers' off the top. (#63)
February 19, 200817 yr Author #24 Doves 'Black And White Town' (01-01-05-08-09-11-12-12-15-17-18-21-25-31-35) (15 weeks) http://musicmedia.ign.com/music/image/article/589/589707/dovesblackwhite290_022205_1109109177.jpg Now we're talking! I love Doves and this is a belter of a song. The album wasn't all up to previous efforts but this highlight certainly was. Just the two weeks at the top before a host of other excellent other songs were released giving it a sharp two week descent. It continued to keep 'Like Toy Soldiers' and then Willy Mason's 'Oxygen' off the top spot. (#30)
February 19, 200817 yr Black & White Town - what an absolute tune :o Kudos to Vertigo and Somebody Told Me as well ^_^
February 19, 200817 yr Love all of the last 4, Somebody Told Me is an absolute classic, as is Galvanize ^_^
