February 27, 200817 yr Author #57 Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins 'You Are What You Love' (02-02-01-02-02-04-06-09-09-10-14-19-22-28-31-34-37-35-40-37) (20 weeks) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5197NV6DTCL._AA240_.jpg Despite me not thinking much of the debut single, not knowing much Rilo Kiley stuff and country not being my genre of choice I still downloaded this album due to the high praise it had recieved. It was an excellent decision as it's fantastic, this being one of the best moments. Over the last couple of years I've really grown to adore her. (#11)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #58 Primal Scream 'Country Girl' (01-01-02-02-04-05-09-10-12-13-18-22-27-26-33) (15 weeks) http://991.com/gallery_180x180/Primal-Scream-Country-Girl---Ja-421467-991.jpg I'd always liked what I'd heard by these but I only really knew their most kwown hits ('Loaded', 'Rocks'...). I loved this and immediately bought their Greatest Hits collection as a result. And despite this being quite different from the majority of their work I still love the majority of it. I still do like this, but not as much as I did when it was out. (#52)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #59 Jim Noir 'My Patch' (25-21-17-21-11-01-05-10-16-23-30-32-38) (13 weeks) http://www.musicomh.com/music/videos/jim-noir-2.jpg This was the first song to make a proper climb up to number one, rather than entering at two in a competitive week. It only happened once more before I changed how I compiled my chart. I'd liked the previous single 'Key Of C' and quite liked this and a song I heard on a compilation so bought the album and then really started to love this which is why it managed to climb to the top 5 weeks after release. Although I still really like the album I don't consider this to be one of the best three or four tracks on it and probably shouldn't have made it a number one. (#73)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #60 The Fratellis 'Henrietta' (01-01-01-05-07-07-11-14-19-23-22-27-33-28-31-38) (16 weeks) http://www.recordstore.co.uk/images/covers/fratellis-henrietta.jpg I know these aren't particularly original or anything but I still really like them. Unlike most mainstream indie bands of today they have something about them I really quite like, a more heavy sound yet still capable of writing brilliant sing-a-long anthems like this, 'Chelsea Dagger' and 'Baby Fratelli'. I went off them around the end of the year, I don't know why though, they're excellent. Muse 'Supermassive Black Hole' and Guillemots 'Made Up Love Song #43' were kept at number two behind it. (#46)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #61 The Pipettes 'Pull Shapes' (01-01-01-01-02-03-05-07-09-10-13-15-19-20-21-24-29) (17 weeks) http://www.recordstore.co.uk/images/covers/pipettes-pull.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlZUOOnJ5hU Although they'd released two or three singles before this I didn't really get until them until this was released. A wonderful pop song which was perfect for summer. How it wasn't played to death on Radio 1, Radio 2, every local commercial station going and all the music channels like TMF and The Hits I'll never know. If ever there was a song to be the soundtrack of summer this was it. Most pop acts would kill for a song like this. I did get a little bit bored of this by the end of the year because I'd played the album so much but listening to it again recently it's so good! This continued to keep Guillemots off the top before Rogue Traders 'Voodoo Child' and Gnarls Barkley 'Smiley Faces' stalled at number 2. (#07)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #62 Peter, Bjorn & John 'Young Folks' (01-01-01-01-01-02-04-08-11-12-13-19-19-31-30-35-36-40) (18 weeks) http://www.clickmusic.com/upload/youngfolks300.jpg *whistles* Yes, I loved this a full year before it's re-release when it became a proper hit. Another track I thought should've, and could've, been a huge hit but it wasn't to be. Still, some people appreciated it as 6Music listeners voted it in the top 5 singles of the year. And rightly so. It was. The re-release this year did make me tire of it a bit but I still adore it. The View 'Wasted Little DJs', Arcitic Monkeys 'Leave Before The Lights Come On', Futureheads 'Worry About It Later' and Little Man Tate 'House Party At Boothy's' all reached number 2 behind this. (#15)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #63 Scissor Sisters 'I Don't Feel Like Dancing' (01-02-05-09-09-09-16-21-38) (9 weeks) http://cover6.cduniverse.com/msiart/0000634/0000634947.jpg I adored this when I first heard it. Thought it was by far the best thing they'd done and couldn't believe they'd come back with something this good. It didn't last long on the chart but it was more to do with 27 new entries in two weeks than me tiring of the song. That would've been an expensive fortnight if I'd legally downloaded stuff back then! I do still like it now but nowhere near as much. If ever there was a song that didn't need overexposure this was it. Christ, it's annoying now. (#93)
February 28, 200817 yr Author #64 Guillemots 'Trains To Brazil' (01-02-05-08-07-06-07-16-22-26-33-35-38-39-35-33-33-33-35-39) (20 weeks) http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/upload/trainstobrazil300.jpg I love this band so much. It only had a week at the top but then it was nearly a year old and only really got a week to make up for it stalling at 2 first time. I still adored it though and had it not been in my top 100 singles of 2005 it would have been in my top 3 of 2006. Wonderful song which never fails to make me feel good. Album's a belter too, one of the decades very best. It benefitted from the pre and post Christmas lull with 10 weeks in the 30s. (#06)
March 5, 200817 yr Author #65 The Aliens 'The Happy Song' (01-03-05-05-04-06-19-24-33-37) (10 weeks) http://www.gigwise.com/artists/00013207_aliens.jpg I loved this at the time, a really good uplifiting song about being happy! Not so fond now, almost seems noveltyish. Still like their other material though. (#90)
March 5, 200817 yr Author #86 Lily Allen 'LDN' (01-01-02-02-02-11-23-28-32-34) (10 weeks) http://www.gigwise.com/artists/00013528_lily.jpg I first heard this when it first got some publicity in around March. I loved it and thought it should've been the soundtrack to summer but was released far too late. I still loved it when it came out but I had bored of it a little bit. Still enjoyable to listen to now. It kept McAlmont & Butler 'Speed' and Jet 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is' off the top. (#47)
March 5, 200817 yr Scissor Sisters, Arctics, Goldfrapp, Lily Allen.. all good. I'm waiting for a complete list though because I'm lazy :heehee:
March 5, 200817 yr Author #67 TV On The Radio 'Wolf Like Me' (35-24-12-06-04-01-01-01-07-17-24-30-29-31-36-40-39-38-40) (19 weeks) http://www.gigwise.com/artists/00011434_wolf.jpg The second slow rise to the top. It was definitely a song that grew on me over time. I hardly heard it before release but then I downloaded it and it just got better and better. I still love it now and haven't ever stopped, although the 16 place, 2 week fall from the top may suggest otherwise, but there was nothing ahead of it that wasn't released in those two weeks or wasn't doing its own TVOTR ascent! (#33)
March 5, 200817 yr Author Scissor Sisters, Arctics, Goldfrapp, Lily Allen.. all good. I'm waiting for a complete list though because I'm lazy :heehee: Any comments are good! And I'd probably do the same.... :teresa:
March 5, 200817 yr Wolf Like Me is probably one of my favorite 2006 singles. <3 Excellent. Only behind Headlock by Imogen Heap and LDN.
March 5, 200817 yr Author #68 Bodyrox ft Luciana 'Yeah Yeah' (01-01-01-04-04-06-04-04-06-09-13-16-17-28-31) (15 weeks) http://www.strictlyleft.co.uk/img/upload/Image/music_reviews/bodyrox_Luciana_yeah_yeah_s.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BztcQyvZFY In a week where the top 6 were all new releases, it was this, the best dance song in AGES, that managed to beat off competition from Air Traffic, Young Knives, Sunshine Underground, Peter, Bjorn & John and The Good, The Bad & The Queen to reach the top and stay there for three weeks. I still absolutely love it now and would place it in my top 5 dance tracks of the decade, just a shame it's been inferiorly ripped-off and cloned so many times since. Air Traffic 'Never Even Told Me Her Name', The Good The Bad & The Queen 'Herculean' and Snow Patrol & Martha Wainwright 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar' all stalled at number two behind it. (#26)

March 5, 200817 yr Author #69 The Feeling 'Love It When You Call' (01-03-02-02-03-04-08-14-20-29) (10 weeks) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51HD0ZTAPTL._AA240_.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSzDqUoIBck They'd come close twice before with both releases of 'Fill My Little World' but it was this that gave them their first (and barring a miracle) only number one. It was my standout track from the moment I listened to the album. I still like it now but somewhat predictably I have tired of them, still give them a listen every now and again though. The Good, The Bad & The Queen re-bounded with 'Herculean' in its week at the top but again it was to stick at #2! (#70)
March 5, 200817 yr Author #70 Damien Rice '9 Crimes' (01-01-01-01-01-02-02-06-05-08-19-27-38) (13 weeks) http://www.gigwise.com/artists/00014794_DR_9crimesLR-packshot.jpg I never liked the stuff off his first album, it was ok and that was it. But this was stunning. I couldn't believe he'd come back with something so unbelievably beautiful. His vocals are so suited with Lisa Hannigan's, they are the perfect male/female contrast. Unfortunately it was a one off as I'm still yet to hear anything I like. But I don't mind a one off when it is this good! This kept Nelly Furtado's 'All Good Things', a rebounding Air Traffic and The Rapture's 'WAYUH' off the top. (#17)

It took a while to grow and managed to benefit from the usual Christmas lull by climbing all the way to the top. It soon fell down though as for some reason I'm always quick to get rid of the previous years songs... Probably the most bizzare title of any song I've charted. (#41)
