Beautiful...love the redhead  apparently two of them are from London and one from Sweden, I guess the one on the right is Swedish, she looks it

if they somehow manage to get through I can't see it finishing in the bottom five, its too good (plus we should get votes from Sweden :P). I just hope the judges pick them to go through the first category over Loveshy

I agree, its unique, not like anything from last year and far represents our current music scene to a certain extent (similar sound to Duffy)
I really hope I don't develop an obsession Cyndi-style though with this song and then not be able to think about it without wanting to kill each and every member of Scooch for several months after, only to be let down by the ever unreliable British public!

Should we be expecting it to top your end of 2008 chart David :P

Well now I wouldn't want to jump to too many conclusions Rich. :kink:

I'm LOVING LoveShy and The Revelations :o

However, saying that the British public will now do a Cyndi/Hawkins & Brown and choose the WORST opposition to these two -_- I think LoveShy are guaranteed top 15 if they give a good performance, but The Revelations (under the same circumstances) would probably get us top ten! :o :cheer:

Simon McVeigh is ok, and Simona's song is nice. But neither are anything special.

I shall be supporting the Revelations whole heartedly, and I can see them winning fairly comfortably if I'm honest. *Touch wood*

My popularity bars for the six songs (itunes style)

llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll The Revelations

lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll Loveshy

lllllllllllllllll Michelle Gayle

llllllll Simona Armstrong

llll Rob McVeigh

ll Andy Abraham

I think you can see which is my favourite

Right ok I've listened to all songs in full now and here is my brief review...

Simona Armstrong - Changes

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/03_simona_146x110.jpg

This is a very very good song, and I think it has a serious chance of qualifying for Belgrade. The chorus is really catchy, and Simona's voice is quite unique.

My rating: 9/10

Odds: 11/2 (fourth fave)

What I think will happen to it: Direct qualification to the second phase of EYD, but from there I cannot say. :o Should it qualify for the final, I reckon about #12-14 would be a reasonable prediction for its finish.

Andy Abraham - Even If

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/05_andy_146x110.jpg

A chirpy number, but terribly unmemorable imo. There is nothing more I can say. :(

My rating: 6/10

Odds: 5/2 (second fave)

What I think will happen to it: This will probably make phase two of EYD, but I can't see the public picking it up. Should it somehow get to Belgrade, it'll be another #21-24 finish for the UK I believe...

Rob McVeigh - I Owe It All to You

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/02_rob_146_110.jpg

Last year we had a belting ballad with Cyndi's 'I'll Leave My Heart'; this year's offering is of far less quality. I can't see many plus points from this, and a James Fox-esque result is the most likely outcome for this I'm afraid. Good job he's up against the sublime Simona.

My rating: 4/10

Odds: 7/1 (fifth fave)

What I think will happen to it: I reckon this could be the panel's wildcard choice, but I sincerely hope it isn't. I can't see it making the final two though, but should it make Belgrade, expect a lowly #17ish finish.

Revelations - It's You

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/06_revelations_146x110.jpg

Ahhh what a song this is! I'm actually torn atm as to whether I prefer this or Simona Armstrong, but I think this is definately a different sort of song to send. Very Pipette/Motown-esque, and it might just do quite well. Camp as too! I could do with a better quality version of the MP3 though tbh.

My rating: 10/10

Odds: 2/1 (fave)

What I think will happen to it: Direct qualification to the next round is near-guaranteed, and I can see it making the top two quite easily. A catchy song which will go down well in the hall... I can't see it being beaten tbh. Top ten for Belgrade too!

LoveShy - Mr Gorgeous

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/04_loveshy_146x110.jpg

I actually really liked this when I first heard it. Now, all I see is a poor man's Serebro/Jamelia rip off. Poor song, and we'll probably be treated to some poor vocals from the girls. Back to the reality TV show reject bin please!

My rating: 6/10

Odds: 8/1 (least fave)

What I think will happen to it: Immediate eviction I'm afraid. I think the odds of 8/1 are quite generous too tbh, I'd say something more along the lines of 33/1 would be more fitting! It has no chance of qualifying, it really doesn't. Top 20 perhaps if it got to Belgrade.

Michelle Gayle - Woo (U Make Me)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/eurovision/img/01_michelle_146x110.jpg

Hmm... this song annoys me tbh. It's got quite a catchy beat to it, but it's nothing REALLY special. Nothing particularly memorable imo I'm afraid.

My rating: 4/10

Odds: 3/1 (third fave)

What I think will happen to it: I'm thinking this will get the boot straight away too. Andy Abraham will probably just pip her to the next round, and it'll be back to the bargain bin for Michelle! Should it get to Belgrade I can't see much more than a top 20 finish. Odds of 3/1 are far too low too. But then I suppose it's the curse of the "big" name.

Following on from that...

The second round should see group wins from Simona Armstrong, Andy Abraham and the Revelations. I think they'll also be joined by Rob McVeigh for the wild card. The second show sees two acts kicked out straight away, and Andy Abraham is the most obvious choice imo. As for the second evictee, it's quite hard to predict. I'd like to say McVeigh, but I think it could be Simona. Either way, I can't see anyone else other than the Revelations ending the night on top of the pile.

I think Revalations will go all the way, its the best song out of all 6, so I'm going to stick my money on it

A poll from Capital Radio:

Who should represent the UK at this year's Eurovision?

The Revelations 60%

Andy Abrahams 14%

Michelle Gayle 9%

Loveshy 9%

Simona Armstrong 4%

Rob McVeigh 4%

:cheer:

looks like the Revelations girls are hot favs

i just hope they can at least make a top 10 finish this year

I just got a Myspace comment from the Revelations. :kink:

Very cool :D ^

I'll have a proper listen tomorrow or Sunday, but right now I think The Revelations might be my favourite, but I'm still not convinced how well it would go down in Europe. I'm not against Michelle Gayle's either...

good god :o fingers crossed that they sail through :w00t: In my opinion, I've rarely heard a national final where one song has such a gulf of quality over the others...
