I must be in the minority here, absolutely love the film, thought vivien leigh was exquisite. She also was chosen virtually out of nowhere against big names at the time.

Vivien Leigh was brilliant and deserved her Oscar. I enjoyed the film but it's very long to sit through at home watching TV because there are so many distractions.

However there is so much more in the book.

Maybe I love it because I have the second video of the making of it showing all the big names auditioning for the parts and how they created the burning of Atlanta. It was such an insight into what was a remarkable producti9on.
It certainly was well acted, but I hated certain traits of Scarlett's character. In fact, the only characters in the whole film I warmed to where Melanie(I think) Big Sam(I think) and Rhett, although even he had some failings. I just hope they include some humour and hope, into what overall, is quite a sad story indeed
I liked mammy and pork. Melanie was the best, Ashley was a selfish wimp and Scarlett was a spoiled self centered brat. I felt Bonnie was being spoled too.

The rehearsal pics on the GWTW site don't look super high quality to me. Could they be captures from the video?
If you have a working printer, you can print them out. Shame i haven't at the moment.

Mine isn't set up. I've been meaning to do it because I needed to print out some travel itinerary info. I think you might just have given me enough impetus for me to fight the cable jungle and get on with that tonight.

If I print them out, do you think I could scan them (or at least the ones with Darius) back in, host them and get them on here? I shouldn't think there's any embargo if you can print them out so easily.

That's what i'd do. I've just told Dave that I MUST have a printer. He bought me one for my Xmas present the Christmas before last and then has been using it attatched to his pc ever since. He's not happy as he'll have to rebuy me one - tomorrow I'll start working out which one.
Scarlett was a spoilt self centred brat and vivien leigh portrayed that brilliantly.
The bits of the film I saw, just made me get up and walk away. I so hope the musical doesn't do the same. It's not a matter of what's good or bad, it's just personal taste. I can see some things are brilliant but they are still things which I loathe. I hope it is more like the book.
Well they have said it will be based on the book instead of the film, so you should be happy Meg :) I haven't read the book, but the film did have quite a bit of humour in the first hour and a half, so I hope they have that in the Musical. I sort of hope there is a slightly different ending in the book too, but please don't tell me, as I would like it to be a surprise either way :)
There is a very different ending in Rhett's People, the book which tells the story from Rhett's angle.
Yes, but the story isn't by the author of 'Gone With The Wind' and changes to her story are, to me, not acceptable. I don't think that a work of fiction written about a work of fiction should change the values of the first.

Both Scarlett and Rhett Butler's People were written for those who couldn't get enough of the story and wanted to believe Scarlett when she say " Tomorrow, I'll think of some way to get him back" and to know what made Rhett the man he was - a disgraced and outcast gentleman with no apparent concern for anything but money but who nevertheless, is one of the most reliable characters, time and again supporting others when they need it and in such a way they will not be beholden to him.

To me "Scarlett" is nonsense as a sequel. We're asked to believe that Scarlett would turn her back on Tara for good and go to Ireland.

I quite enjoyed Rhett Butler's People although there are several inconsistencies with GWTW.
