March 15, 200817 yr I cancedlled my order for it once you said some of the things it contained as it's GWTW i have an interest in. This musical will show Margaret's take on it. I don't want a third person (other than me) interfering with the story.
March 15, 200817 yr Author They'd have got to find the last remaining cells before they can be washed
March 15, 200817 yr :offtopic: ....but before we return.....at least they wont take long to dry
March 16, 200817 yr I cancedlled my order for it once you said some of the things it contained as it's GWTW i have an interest in. This musical will show Margaret's take on it. I don't want a third person (other than me) interfering with the story. I wonder how much Margaret Martin's adaptation will differ from the book? Could she be a 'third person' ?
March 16, 200817 yr Author There's the book and then Margaret Martin's original script and then there's Sir Trevor Nunn's interpretation and visualisation of that (Did you know Sir Trevor Nunn went over to America to Georgia etc including the Margaret Mitchell Museum etc to do research) and then us the viewers.
March 16, 200817 yr Ok a fifth person then. I've definately got my ideas. From what's been said, Margaret has created characters to go with the main ones. I loved the BBC Pride and Prejudice as it had so much from the book - I'm really hoping for similar in this.
March 18, 200817 yr Author Well everybody connected with the show who's spoken about it so far, is absolutely adamant that it is the book and not the film which is the entire backbone of the production. I like the idea that Sir Trevor tries out all the possibilities and then decides, but now I'm worried that there won't be enough rehearsal time. I
March 18, 200817 yr We'll know how it's going in a very little while. It'll be interesting to see if there are many changes from the first previews to opening.
March 18, 200817 yr Author I hope that guy was only joking - 4 hours! Maybe you should take the hamper with your champagne and flutes like some do to the Wagner operas to the early previews.
March 18, 200817 yr I really hope they have wittled it down to less than that by now, I reckon its easy once you have the actors up on stage and acting it out, it must become obvious what you can lose without losing the plot. much like a book summary - well I do hope so
March 18, 200817 yr Author I think it was in the interview with the two guys and one said it lasted for 4 hours and 45 minutes or something. I think it was a joke but the orchestrator said that Sir Trevor Nunn likes to run through all the possibilities and I took that to mean exploring them physically with the actors to see what worked best and then making his selections. Don't most shows run longer ar first and tighten up as the previews go on?
March 18, 200817 yr I am sure you need more stage time than you really need, it must be worse to have the scenes for a 2 hour run, and then find its not enough and you are trying to pack it out..must be easier to condense it, much liike film editing- there's only 2 weeks till previews......
