How is it not fair?

Last year, 28 songs had to try and qualify for only 10 places against, another 10 songs who were already qualified based on the quality of LAST YEAR's songs.

This year I think it's very fair, giving everybody a level playing field (except the Big 4, but I'm not a fan of them being qualified either).

yeah!! that's unfair! Russia and Ukraine were top 3 and now there's not much of a hope for taking part in final!!

hope Ireland takes #2 after Russia!

I was so sad that Dervish have resulted SO LOW!!!!!

It was my fave!!!

if the song taking part in semifinal is really good it'll be the final's track like it hapened with Serbia's and many others!

so there's no need 2 worry!

but unfair is only for the Russia  , Ukraine and others top 10 last year!

It's definitely fairest like this. I don't support the Big 4 at all though - there must be some other way to benefit the Big 4 though without having auto-qualification, it seems somewhat ironic that the best benefit nowadays only really guarantees failure :( I reckon we could be looking at a bottom 5 of the Big 4 and Serbia now tbh!

I think it would be unfair if Russia and Ukraine and the others from the Top 10 last year did qualify for the final. If they had a bad song this year then they would still be in the final because of how they did last year.

I don't think that gives everybody a level playing field.

although readng yer comments i so wht it sfair but the top 10 gave everyone the feeling of well at least we came top 10 and you got your country to qualify for the following so getting top 10 was an achievement for thise thise who dont win it was like the runner up prizes

Funnily enough, Roland Rat Superstar was on BBC24 News this morning discussing the UK's entries for Song For Europe (he did not like any of them, and compared them unfavourably with the Irish entry), and said that they've made a huge mistake not giving him a call to come and save the UK's credibility at Eurovision, like he saved TV:AM 25 years ago.

After all the UK at Eurovision could do with a Rat saving a drowning ship.

For those of you who don't know Roland Rat was created, operated and voiced by David Claridge, the same person responsible for Zig & Zag in the 1990s and Dustin The Turkey (voiced by Johnny Morrison).

In 1983 he became one of the first UK artists to score a Top20 hit with a Rap record, which was the first Top40 hit single produced by Stock Aitken & Waterman.

Leona Daly. Almost as big a travesty as Cyndi last year in the UK! :arrr:
Oh definately. I'd be more inclined to say top 20, and possibly even top ten.
id love if that happened or id love the eurovision songs in general to do well in the charts as it would be good for eurovision
