February 29, 200817 yr A good revision methinks Trashley... Norway's song is amazing...I hope they get the 'mature song vote' they got in 2003

February 29, 200817 yr A good revision methinks Trashley... Norway's song is amazing...I hope they get the 'mature song vote' they got in 2003 I don't get that :S The songs are completely different! 2003 was a ballad that was perfect for Eurovision with a cute singer, but wouldn't have dented the chart at all, whereas this year it's quite a contemporary song that could easily be a hit, but might not be all that memorable among everything else in a Eurovision context.
February 29, 200817 yr I'm not comparing the songs musically or lyrically. I'm comparing the fact that they are both classy songs in relation to much of their competition

March 5, 200817 yr updated again with comments The Excellent ------------------ 1. Norway - Brilliant, very classy and very contemporary. If it doesn't finish top ten I'll scream 2. Bulgaria - Another good year for Bulgaria...like Bomfunk MC's for 2008... 3. Czech Republic - Excellent pop song, the first song I heard of this year's entrants...what an improvement on 2007! 4. Latvia - Novelty europop but very catchy, reminds me of the German band Chipz 5. Switzerland - Really nice, the piano melody is excellent, a real grower too...appears to be one of the favourites too but so was Vanilla Ninja in 2005... 6. Greece - Like Panjabi MC at the start but the rest of the song is absolutely brilliant from Greece as usual 7. Malta - Much better than last year and I like the tune a lot, but do Malta really listen to music like this? It seems a bit desperate and over the top in places ----------------- The Very Good ----------------- 8. Slovenia - Nothing special but its very catchy and perfect for Eurovision...a step up for Slovenia 9. Andorra - Maria Roure's song from 2004 still holds a special place in my heart but this is nice too from Andorra...not sure if it will qualify though... 10. Ukraine - I hated Dancing Lasha Tumbai so I'm glad that musically they are back on track...good song by a good singer and sure to finish top 10 in the contest ----------------- The Good ----------------- 11. Iceland - Another fan favourite, the west seem to be coming up with the goods this year...its a good dance song, and potentially a grower 12. Macedonia - the third good Macedonian song in a row...like every year this will go to the final easily but won't be a contender for the title...I'll be interested to hear the English version ----------------- The I Think They Will Grow On Me's ----------------- 13. Ireland - What can I say about this...awful introduction but the Eurodance melody is quite good, if like Malta a little frantic, but the lyrics are typically tongue in cheek...I believe Irelande Douze Points will be heard a few times in the contest this year when the presenters read out the scores 14. United Kingdom - Probably my least favourite song from the UK selection and my least favourite entry since James Fox but its a grower, a bit 70's and sounds like 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' but I think it might at least propel the UK to a higher position than 2nd to last... 15. Albania - Nothing amazing after a couple of listens but I don't dislike it and it certainly has potential to grow... 16. Poland - It's a nice song but I can't remember how it goes after about 4 listens...perhaps it takes a few more to grow 17. Hungary - Another potential grower, see above comment ----------------- The Oh Dear, These Are Awful's ----------------- 18. Finland - Yet more rock/metal from the Finns but unlike Lordi this has no redeeming features... 19. Romania - They did well with a similar bland duet in 2002 so this could do well but I'm not a fan 20. Moldova - How bland is this...no further comments to add 21. Azerbaijan - Over the top, overdramatic, terrible song & performance...at least it will be a memorable debut though 22. Croatia - Whose idea was this? Of course neighbourly voting will mean that Croatia would NEVER finish last but these old men don't really deserve points from anyone 23. Estonia - See Ireland/Latvia for how to successfully do a novelty track...this is just awful and I hope it doesn't qualify for the final
