Posted February 23, 200817 yr DELTA Goodrem has been dropped by her US record label. US music giant Sony BMG axed Goodrem, thwarting her dream to crack America. Well-placed sources said the split was amicable. Goodrem, 23, was increasingly frustrated by the US label's reluctance to release her music. The split opens the door for her to pursue a deal elsewhere. Sony BMG, home to Beyonce and Shakira, did not believe Goodrem was viable in the US. Her chart-toppers, Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity, were to be released as a composite album, but it was shelved. Delta's latest self-titled album suffered the same fate. Goodrem's Australian record label and publicist yesterday confirmed the singer had lost her US deal. But Goodrem's spokeswoman said negotiations were under way with other US labels. Sources said Goodrem was likely to sign with the Universal Music Group. "There are plans for a release of the Delta album in the US," Goodrem's spokeswoman said. The US setback follows a mixed year for one of Australia's biggest-selling singers. Her latest album was praised as a return to form and went triple platinum, but did not reach the sales heights of Innocent Eyes.Goodrem will fight for her American dream. "I strongly believe I'll have a career there one day," she said. "There's plenty of time. "I certainly haven't admitted defeat. I feel I haven't even started the battle. I'm completely new over there, it doesn't matter that I've sold records anywhere else."Locally, Delta's new single, You Will Only Break My Heart, makes its debut on radio tomorrow. DELTA Goodrem's personal dream to crack the lucrative American music market has stalled after she was dumped by her US label. The pop star, who is still signed to SonyBMG in Australia, was dropped by the US arm of the mega music company. Goodrem's Australian record label and publicist yesterday confirmed the 23-year-old star had lost her US deal with SonyBMG. However, the spokeswoman said the singer was in talks with other American labels. Sources say Goodrem is likely to sign with the Universal Music Group. Her spokeswoman said: "There are plans for a release of the Delta album in the US ..." US SonyBMG - which is home to Beyonce, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez - didn't believe that Goodrem was a viable act in America. She was increasingly frustrated by the US label's reluctance to release her music. Her chart-toppers, 'Innocent Eyes' and 'Mistaken Identity', were slated for release as a composite album in the US, then shelved. Goodrem's latest self-titled album suffered the same fate. This US setback follows a mixed year for one of Australia's biggest-selling singers. Her latest album was praised as a return to form, but did not repeat the record-breaking sales of 'Innocent Eyes'. Late last year, Goodrem's mother and former manager, Lea, revealed that she was fighting breast cancer. Soon after, Goodrem and boyfriend Brian McFadden announced plans to marry. McFadden has had a big influence on her career decisions. Last year, she signed with the management team that steers McFadden. McFadden recently inked a licensing deal with Universal Music Australia - a move Goodrem looks set to emulate with the label's parent company in the US. Goodrem will continue to fight to make her American dream reality. "I strongly believe I'll have a career there one day," she said. "I certainly haven't admitted defeat. I feel I haven't even started the battle. I'm completely new over there ... it doesn't matter that I've sold records anywhere else. You have to be a new artist, take the good with the bad, build strong bonds with the people you're working with." Goodrem's new single, 'You Will Only Break My Heart', debuts locally on radio tomorrow. Edited February 28, 200817 yr by visualisedelta

February 24, 200817 yr Author i think what it boiled down to was that delta was unhapy they were not releasing the music. therefore they agreed to let eachother go. it would have been her putting presure on
February 24, 200817 yr Its probably for the best anyway. Sony never really gave LWY a chance - hopefully she'll sign to Universal and get some proper promotion behind her
February 28, 200817 yr i reckon she could be quite big over there if they had bothered with promotion....im sure she will get another deal soon enough :)
