Posted February 24, 200817 yr BON JOVI SCRAP AUTOBIOGRAPHY PLANS Rockers BON JOVI have scrapped plans to pen an autobiography about their 25 years together - because the bandmates couldn't agree on what to reveal to the world. The You Give Love A Bad Name hitmakers had started work on a book with author David Ritz, but they quickly realised there were too many secrets they wanted to keep. Jon Bon Jovi tells Billboard.com, "We were limiting ourselves in what we'd say, so when you're having reservations you're not telling the truth. "And, if you're not telling the truth, what's the point? So we gave 'em (publishers) their money back and called it a day." But the band hasn't given up on plans to give fans something special and personal - and that's why Oscar-winning director Barbara Kopple and a film crew will accompany Bon Jovi on its current tour, shooting an all-access documentary about the group. Jon Bon Jovi adds, "It's either gonna tell the truth or it's not coming out. There's been a lot of accomplishments in 25 years. There's a story there. There's a reason why." http://www.pr-inside.com/bon-jovi-scrap-au...ans-r445813.htm
February 24, 200817 yr Author Bon Jovi Tour Begins With Cameras Rolling Bon Jovi's U.S. tour began on Monday night in Omaha without any full production rehearsals, due to last Thursday's fatal shootings on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. The band was actually due to rehearse at NIU's Convocation Center because Omaha's Qwest Center was unavailable, but the rehearsal was canceled in the face of the tragedy. "Your thoughts and prayers go out to them. It's a shocker, just devastating," Jon Bon Jovi told Billboard.com of the incident. "We were in the air at the time, so we didn't get any further than the airport. When we landed we were just told to get back on the plane and go home. But our crew and the stage and everything was there. Once things settled down they just packed everything up and headed to Nebraska. What else can you do?" Meanwhile, the group is being filmed on the current tour by director Barbara Kopple and her crew for a documentary about Bon Jovi's first 25 years. The singer says of the film, "It's either gonna tell the truth or it's not coming out. There's been a lot of accomplishments in 25 years. There's a story there. There's a reason why. I'm not sure what (the film) is going to be like; I think that's probably the beauty of it, and it's also the fear that's driving it." Bon Jovi's U.S. tour with Daughtry continues on Wednesday in Auburn Hills, MI and runs through May 1 in Atlanta. The band will then begin a European tour on May 22 in Germany. Bon Jovi plans to be on the road through July but isn't sure whether the tour will finish in Europe or the U.S. http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=589673
February 24, 200817 yr Author Business-minded JON BON JOVI is waiting to see how the U.S. economy shapes up this summer before deciding whether to schedule a tour in the country. Bon Jovi kicked off their latest tour in Nebraska on Monday night (18Feb08) but a second leg will depend on state of the economy. The group will be touring Europe in May and June (08) and will wait before announcing more American dates. Bon Jovi admits he has a string of baseball stadiums on hold, but the band might not head home. He says, "We (could) stay in Europe because of the state of the economy. All the arena shows (we're playing) are sold out, but the July dates, I'm not sure where the economy's going to be, so I don't know yet." http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/artic...%20turn_1060032
February 24, 200817 yr Author The group has hired Academy Award-winning documentary director Barbara Kopple to come on the road with it for a movie to commemorate Bon Jovi's first 25 years. The tour kicks off Monday in Omaha, Neb. I'm guilty of never having had enough film footage or photographs, simply because I kept the doors shut, says group leader Jon Bon Jovi, explaining that the group hired Kopple after an unsuccessful attempt to do a book with biographer David Ritz. http://www.postchronicle.com/news/entertai...212131242.shtml
