I'd get rid of some of the narrative and the cart. A couple of good songs to replace them would really help. More Rhett would as well. That's not just because Darius is in it then. The first part of the 2nd half is also slower. In some ways I prefer the 2nd half in the first preview to the altered one now. It was more leisurly and riviting the whole way through - but longer.

Between the 18th and 19th, some changes had been made to the first half which made it seem as though they were galloping through it. I'd also cut Prissy's song. She has a fantastic voice but it has nothing to do with the story at all. I'd also have Melanie's baby born off stage - even though I know laughter is good for everyone. And the Melanie's deathbed scene - I'd get rid of the song. Most people don't rally enough to burst into song and, it takes the pathos away from one of the saddest scenes in the book. Thank goodness they got rid of the cow - although that was funny.

As it is, I love it and intend to see it whenever I can. I'm just nit picking.

agree, I didnt notice much as I was so involved, I liked the narrative as it put me in mind of reading the book, so my imagination took me there - but Prissy singing about wating to be a teacher seemed a bit out of place, well intentioned I suppose..but I wouldnt have missed it, hubby reckoned the births could have been narrated, and we didnt need to see the births- there were bits I wa expecting to see whihc I didnt, although cant recall if that was film or book?? and didnt really see the point in th edream sequence at the end on the way back to rhett after melly died...it was superfluous at the end of the story. Oh I liked Melly singing on her deathbed, a continuation fo her song after the yank was killed -

we both said we coul dgo back again any time, it feels like there was so much we could notice on repeat watchings!

As I said before, there is so much in it that you need the 2nd and 3rd views. The music keeps charging through your brain then as well. On first viewing, you are just so caught up, the music seems to escape. It's only when you rewatch it that you realise you haven't forgotten the songs at all.
The dream sequence wouldn't have been superflous if they'd put in the bit where Rhett comforted her and kept her safe when she waked with that nightmare - just like he did with Bonnie.
It is in at the end of the book as well - but it only really hits home when the first part is included. I'm going again the week after next.
I think I'd go without food if it would finance another GWTW visit for me, but then I'm just an extremist.

That's absolutely great. I'm so pleased for you. Maybe you can buy your hubby the CD next time.

Let's hope more of each audience think the same and encourage all their acquaintances to see the show.

They seem to like the current crop of musicals which seem to be old songs embedded in a story. The Daily Telegraph was supposed to have said that was the best musical of the year. A bit like comfort eating. I'll probably go and see 'Jersey Boys' it is on my list but, I like that this is new and a different kind of thing, the songs within the story rather that the story built around known songs. It does make it more sing along that way though. I'll probably thoroughly enjoy it and come out singing the tunes but, it wont make it better. When I've seen it, I'll tell you what I think. 'Dirty Dancing' is also on the list and Les Mis and Phantom again.

let me know if it changes please, I've asked Neil to try set the tape before he flys over but I didn't know what time

must ask him to do loose women

It's difficult as last time it wasn't listed until just before it came on - even though it was in their heading.

it was on the sky listings several days before.

I'll try to get Neil go look forward before he leaves next sunday
