Posted February 26, 200817 yr What scenes should/shouldn't be in the stage GWTW? The Burning of Atlanta - any thoughts? In/out? Pyrotechnics? Back projection? CGI? / Ah, Forget it, just tell the audience what happened.
February 26, 200817 yr Well, as I said before, the charity ball just has to be in. 12 Oaks where Scarlett sees Rhett for the first time. Rhett returning Melanie's ring. I'd miss out the hospital scenes and a lot of the war ones.
February 26, 200817 yr Author Yes, I'll vote for the the charity bazaar and ball too. It's the only chance of seeing Darius dance again.
February 26, 200817 yr Author I think it's a key scene. My opinion of Melanie changed. I liked her a lot better.
February 26, 200817 yr I think it clarified Rhett as well. Melanie just gets better and better as the book goes on. She's loyal but with a brain and she supports those she loves. She and Rhett are my favorite characters. I never feel sorry for Scarlett.
February 26, 200817 yr Author In view of the last attempt to stage GWTW, maybe they should give Bonnie and her pony a side swerve but I don't see how they can miss her death.
February 26, 200817 yr :( not fair I'm still only on page 15 so I can't join in. But there must be dancing with Darius, he was so good in G&Ds. I'd also go for missing war....hate war, think that's what has always out me off this film. So what else can I look forward to....
February 26, 200817 yr Author Aldo Scrofani said it wasn't about slavery nor was it about the war, but I think some of the story only makes sense when you know how the Confederacy is doing.
February 26, 200817 yr Darius acting drunk singing "Marching Through Georgia"? That would be essential. The story wouldn't be complete without that.
February 26, 200817 yr That could be covered in narration a lot easier and completeluuy. Unless they lock is in there and don't let us out until September.
February 27, 200817 yr Author They'd have to keep in some visual effects of the suffering of the men, in sharp contrast to the arrogant young gentlemen filled with the glory of war, full of boasts and certain of victory. Belle is introduced as a character at the hospital, isn't she?
February 27, 200817 yr She is - and a good 'bad' woman as well. We'd have to keep the scene where Ashley goes to war and he and Scarlett get together.
February 27, 200817 yr Author The makers of the film obviously thought the scene at Tara where they kiss is essential. They used it to screen test Scarletts and Ashleys. I'm not so sure.
February 27, 200817 yr It's the reason she holds on to the dream of Ashley and the reason she feels she can't love rhett. I think it is essential to the story as well.
February 27, 200817 yr Author So what have we got so far? Twelve Oaks - barbecue/library The Bazaar - (give us a twirl, Darius!) Melanie meets Belle Scarlett/Ashley off to war and at Tara Burning of Atlanta? The drunken alibi scene
February 28, 200817 yr eek, cannot comment as I really havent much idea of the book - I think it is about slavery, the civil war to end slavery - fall from lavish lifestyle to struggle..and love and loss..oh I do think the burning of Atlanta should be in it, and as its a musical all the scenes that involve dancing and singing and RHETT.
