March 5, 200817 yr Author I hope they keep the 'honeymoon' in New Orleans in. It's about the only time Rhett and Scarlett both seem to be happy in each other's company. How could I forget about "Bring Him Home?" I'll need to dig out my CD now. Edited March 5, 200817 yr by Baytree
March 5, 200817 yr That is such a beautiful song. I'd like to see the happiness - there seems very little of it in the book.
March 5, 200817 yr In the first hour and a half of the film there were a few bits of humour that I quite enjoyed. I just wish they could have spared some for the final 2 hours :( Really hope the show isn't doom and gloom which surely it can't be, can it
March 5, 200817 yr Author There are a lot of deaths in the second act - Scarlett's mother, father, child. Frank Kennedy, Bonnie, Melanie.
March 5, 200817 yr It'd be good not to come out of it in tears. I finished the book on a down. It was good though.
March 5, 200817 yr I'd end up looking after him - I have enough of those already. I'd send him home to his parents - or to Natasha, they'd look after him.
March 5, 200817 yr Author I honestly can't see how the end of Gone With The Wind could be made upbeat or have the audience leave singing unless there's a tremendous (duet) ballad.
March 6, 200817 yr Author I've read a bit further. Now I understand why Tony Fontaine is in the cast - the scene in Aunt Pitty Pat's on his way to Texas, presumably, where we see a very different Frank Kennedy. Just got to find out who the heck Paul Wilson is.
March 7, 200817 yr Still haven't read any further. I think I'm too used to reading action packed kids books. Edited March 7, 200817 yr by Nina
March 7, 200817 yr It's definately not a kids book. Persevere, Nina. I have a feeling the show will be very different though. It's just, if you fall asleep during the action bits, you'll find it harder to know where you are when you wake up. I'm making a sign. Person sound asleep shhhhhh
March 7, 200817 yr Author I found the beginning really slow........................no Rhett! I was figuratively shuffling around in my seat like at Chicago and Guys & Dolls where I just wanted to fast forward the first 15 minutes of both shows.
March 7, 200817 yr But as soon as he's seen, you can feel himin the background even when he isn't there.
March 7, 200817 yr I wonder if there are any clues as to what bits will be in - the cast list seems very long to me.
March 7, 200817 yr Author I think it will be just the 30 Darius spoke of, in the full cast i.e. no ensemble as such. They need to have a lot of people in certain scenes like the barbecue and the bazaar but they're mostly the speaking members of the cast anyway. Maybe they'll use dummies for some of the wounded in some scenes like they did for the depot scenes in the film. They used life- size dummies and an actor between them moving their arm or leg. One well known person viewing that scene said if the South had had that number of soldiers, they'd have won the war.

They'll need maybe 3 of each, won't they?
