Apart from the drunk scene it's only Scarlett who sings snippets in the film.

 

There's a long gap in the middle where Rhett is absent. I'll have to read that again and see if there are any scenes I'd cut.

Thank goodness he sings in the book.

We need that scene with him locked up I think because Rhett can't help her so she rushes into another marriage.

It just shows what a scheming, selfish girl she is. I kept thinking, surely she can see what he's really saying. Twit of a girl. Yes, we need that scene.

I think she needs all her summerizing skills to condense the book substantially, and to still retain the messages running through it, some task.

 

It should have been serialised really instead of a film, a bit like that series with Patrick Swayze, :heart: North and South!

 

 

I could live with seeing it every week.

I'd even trade up to Sky plus so I didn't miss an episode, provided Darius was Rhett, of course.

I would really like it on one of the normal channels. The Tv license costs enough without forcing us to pay for cable or satalite.

I don't suppose the deal with TCM includes putting it on Dvd to be sold in the theatre?

It did say premiere - so it may be shown elsewhere as well.

The Lord of The Rings site has what looks like part of a documentary in parts in the Sights and Sounds section.

 

I never fancied Lord of The Rings but I might see if there are cheap tickets if I happen to be in London. I've got a feeling I might be later this year.

It is one I'd intended to see - also 'Les Mis' again. My money seems to have been spent on tickets for something else though.

Did we mention that they MUST have the scene when Scarlett loses the baby and Melanie comforts Rhett? Scarlett has finally started to see Rhett as he is but her previous actions keep him away. His distress shows Melanie just how much Rhett loves Scarlett.

In the film, Melanie comforts Rhett! Gable didn't want to cry in the scene but he filmed it both ways and agreed the crying one was better.

Sorry, just saw that I'd put her instead of Rhett, you posted in between that and me finishing my edit.

I hope they do it in the same way as Lord of the Rings. It'd be good to see and they allow downloads as well.
