March 18, 200817 yr Author Thanks, Bramley. The book is very long to read because it's very descriptive.
March 18, 200817 yr Thanks, Bramley. i don't agree with the first two character assessments. I feel they will expect those to be adhered to. I see them differently. I'd advisde anyone to read the book and make up their own minds.
March 19, 200817 yr That sums up the joy of reading any book....to form one's own opinion of the characters and their interaction. Films and stage productions are based on the director's opinion, which is often far removed from one's own conception.
March 19, 200817 yr Author Unfortunately the Rhett in my head was Clark Gable. When I got hold of a copy of the GWTW book, I could then see Rhett as a figure physically very like Darius. Scarlett describes his dancing, bold, dark eyes, eyes which danced with amusement - I've been on the receiving end of those often enough to know, Darius fits that description to a T.
March 19, 200817 yr And the more you read, the more it's Darius. Maybe that's the reason i enjoyed it so much.
March 20, 200817 yr I've just re-listened to the videos in Sights, and they did say that Margaret Martin ' CREATED characters who became an integral part of the lives of the main characters of GWTW'. So there will be cast members whose names we do not recognise from the book.
March 20, 200817 yr Author Are you referring to the first time Aldo Scrofani speaks in the Rhett Butler video, Bramley? What he actually says has always confused me because it never made sense to me BUT he doesn't say Margaret Martin, he says Margaret Mitchell, the authoress of Gone With The Wind. Edited March 20, 200817 yr by Baytree
March 20, 200817 yr I think that Margaret Martin has used people like paul Williams and Prophet as characters to take the narrative forward. They only exist as names in the book. It allows her to pass more information on and keep the show very active and not bogged down in detail.
March 20, 200817 yr that makes sense Meg....they did say it would be narrated and there isn't a narrator
March 20, 200817 yr Author From what I remember of Nicholas Nickleby, there wasn't a named narrator. Ithink even Nicholas himself did it occasionally.
March 20, 200817 yr Sorry, Baytree is right. I find it confusing, Margaret Mitchell and Margaret Martin. Must listen more carefully!
March 20, 200817 yr Author Me too. As I say, I don't get what Aldo Scrofani is trying to say there. I'm sure it's not what came out of his mouth. I must go back and read it again.
March 20, 200817 yr I can't get the videos to play on the GWTW homesite, but they play on the GWTW Facebook site.
March 20, 200817 yr There you are then. All you needed was an updated Flash player. I enjoyed Flash Gorden - is he related?
