Darius will be presenting an award at the Olivier Awards. On Sunday 9th march, evidently these have been televised on previous years so fingers crossed

I'm hoping he gets one next year.

wouldnt that be good, would be a wakeup call to the naysayers

10th Anniversary of Chicago, Oliviers, world premiere of GWTW the musical , he'll be getting used to the feel of that red carpet under his feet.

He's walked on plenty already :)

I do hope it's televised. I'd like GWTW televised even more.

I don't think the awards are being televised this year but I'll keep trying to find out.

I've not heard. I'll have to start looking.

does it get any news coverage? the film award shows are shown adfinitum, but I dont know if the Olivier awards are for promotion purposes like the award shows.

The media here doesn't make such a big thing of them but they're the exact equivalent of broadway.s Tony Awards which within new York at least get all the razzamatazz and coverage of the Oscars. They are that important in Theatre land. recognition of the true act-ORS. That's why it is such an honour for Darius to be asked to present an ward, to be invited to attend would have been special anyway.

I wonder if Sue manages to get there?

Talking about NY, Darius won't be able to be there for Tartan Day Parade on April 5th this year. He'll be doing a little show here. It's a shame because the people of Glasgow are presenting the people of NY with the biggest caber ever. Not that I'd have wanted Darius to have a go at throwing the thing.

We'll miss the kilt though. I'd rather have GWTW.

why is it Darius comes in the back door PR wise, documentary shown on channel that a lot of people cant get, olivier wards not shown on tv, . posters for GWTW

It'll all work out, Preston. The Olivier award is for the industry and that goes a long way within the industry. At least there is a documentary and there haven't been many of those for new productions. Aren't we lucky to get anything - specially one starring Darius.

I think the Oliviers will be important for networking and letting people see who he is and that he's much more than just another celeb from the pop world.

yes, it is important Darius is recognised by his peers for having talent , they are the ones who will be employing him I recall he did mention the tortoise and the hare? he is building a great foundation,

Yes I know it is about recognising his talent and employing him but it will also be about him bringing in bums on seats like michael ball for instance and the promo needs to be more upfront for that reason - we can only hope.

I reckon its too early for them to peak..I have my fingers crossed promo will take off, these days there seem to be so many musicals it needs to get its fair share of promotion. Darius was on when he was in Guys and Dolls and Chicago - it would strike me as very odd if this Trevor nunn production didnt get exposure -unless Trevor Nunn is disliked as well..

 

Time just seems to be dragging with the waiting!

It's still 2 months away from opening. I'll wait patiently until the first previews are done.
