Posted February 27, 200817 yr A Vegas Star For Elvis? Elvis Presley will be honored with a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. At least, that’s the goal of the Nevada based “Viva Las Vegas!” fan club The formal announcement and kick-off for "A Star for Elvis" campaign takes place Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Las Vegas The star will be located at the corner of Riviera and Las Vegas Blvd. This spot provides a direct view to the Hilton (on Paradise Rd.), where Elvis performed his record-breaking shows. It also seems fitting to have his star placed near Liberace’s on the sidewalk, since the both of them were friends and shared the affinity of spectacular entertainment. The goal is to have the ceremony and star installation in September 2008. This will be during a classic movie festival featuring films that were produced in Las Vegas. Of course, “Viva Las Vegas” will be among them. The Las Vegas Walk of Stars is a non-profit organization that hopes to honor well over 3000 individuals who have achieved a level of prominence while living and or working in Las Vegas. These honorees receive personalized granite stars, to be installed along designated portions of Las Vegas Boulevard.
