Posted February 28, 200817 yr Spring was never waiting for us, girl It ran one step ahead As we followed in the dance Between the parted pages we were pressed, In love's hot, fevered iron Like a striped pair of pants (Chorus) MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down... Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no! I recall the yellow cotton dress Foaming like a wave On the ground beneath your knees The birds, like tender babies in your hands And the old men playing chinese checkers by the trees (Chorus) (instrumental interlude) (Bridge) There will be another song for me, and I will sing it There will be another dream for me Someone will bring it I will drink the wine while it is warm And never let you catch me looking at the sun And after all the loves of my life After all the loves in my life You'll still be the one I will take my life into my hands, and I will use it I will win the worship in their eyes, and I will lose it I will have the things that I desire, And my passion flow like rivers from the sky. And after all the loves of my life Oh after all the loves in my life You'll still be the one and i ask myself why... What on earth is this song about? Famously sung  (spoken more like) by Richard Harris of all people, and later by Donna Summer. With lines like .............Like a striped pair of pants :D Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no!.........................................................what! Is he a chef?
February 28, 200817 yr ^ Great tune, awful lyrics. I much prefer Donna Summer's version. Mind you she managed to make late 1980s SAW production sound quite good, so maybe that is not saying much.
February 29, 200817 yr possibly the biggest load of nonsense ever committed to vinyl! theres gotta be drugs conortations in there surely.
February 29, 200817 yr I'll never have that recipe again! I always expect him to go all Charlton 'Damn You All To Hell' Heston at that point and shake his fist menacingly. Very stupid song but fun.

Not quite - Procol Harum's 60s singles had some insane lyrics as well - here are 3 of them A Whiter Shade Of Pale: We skipped a light fandango, Turned cartwheels 'cross the floor. I was feeling kind of seasick, But the crowd called out for more. The room was humming harder, As the ceiling flew away. When we called out for another drink, The waiter brought a tray. And so it was that later, As the miller told his tale, That her face at first just ghostly, Turned a whiter shade of pale. She said there is no reason, And the truth is plain to see That I wandered through my playing cards, And would not let her be One of sixteen vestal virgins Who were leaving for the coast. And although my eyes were open, They might just as well have been closed. And so it was later, As the miller told his tale, That her face at first just ghostly, Turned a whiter shade of pale. PbWULu5_nXI Homburg: Your multilingual business friend Has packed her bags and fled Leaving only ash-filled ashtrays And the lipsticked unmade bed The mirror on reflection Has climbed back upon the wall For the floor she found descended And the ceiling was too tall Your trouser cuffs are dirty And your shoes are laced up wrong You’d better take off your homburg ’cos your overcoat is too long The town clock in the market square Stands waiting for the hour When it’s hands they both turn backwards And on meeting will devour Both themselves and also any fool Who dares to tell the time And the sun and moon will shatter And the signposts cease to sign SORRY NO VIDEO A Salty Dog: 'all hands on deck, we've run afloat!' I heard the captain cry 'explore the ship, replace the cook: let no one leave alive!' Across the straits, around the horn: how far can sailors fly? A twisted path, our tortured course, and no one left alive We sailed for parts unknown to man, where ships come home to die No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, could match our captain's eye Upon the seventh seasick day we made our port of call A sand so white, and sea so blue, no mortal place at all We fired the gun, and burnt the mast, and rowed from ship to shore The captain cried, we sailors wept: our tears were tears of joy Now many moons and many junes have passed since we made land A salty dog, this seaman's log: your witness my own hand kd34OR7YopM
March 1, 200817 yr ^ Great tune, awful lyrics. yeah this is a brilliant tune (if its the one i'm thinking about - its about 12 minutes long innit???) as its like so odd - and reminds me that i was gonna buy it on itunes (has a good ppm ratio - price per minute ) however think jarvis cocker should do a reading of this - that would be so brilliant!!!
