Elvis December 15, 1956 Hayride show - owned by Ernst Jorgensen?:

Interesting news via EP Gold that Ernst Jorgensen may own the complete tape of the Saturday, December 15, 1956 Hayride Show. Joey Kent from the Louisiana Hayride Archives stated the following to Andylon from EP Gold.

"I lost out several years ago in a bidding war with Ernst Jorgensen for the tape of Elvis's final Hayride show. I can confirm the tape does exist - I heard samples of several tracks. The seller had made a deal with me but then backed out once BMG took interest, and he ended up selling to them.

I told him if he sold it to me I would put it out and tell the story of how his father, a Texarkana DJ, had recorded the tape off the radio back in 1956, and how the tape came to be saved. He could have been famous! I told him if he sold it to BMG, it would most likely be put in a vault...and so it has happened.

I don't know of any plans for them to put it out. Sony would have to pay me as I own the rights to all of Elvis Presley's Hayride songs - maybe that's why it hasn't come out yet. They deal in big sales and if it weren't for Jorgensen's Follow That Dream label, a lot of collector material would never find its way out, which is a shame.

I would hope this early concert - 10 songs covering about 35 minutes, would be enough to warrant a release sometime soon.

- Thanks, Joey Kent, The Louisiana Hayride Archives"

Isn't it just sooooo frustrating that BMG and the like only buy these important and historical recordings in order to make money from them <_< To think, because of their greed we and the rest of the world are denied the chance to hear this and other things like it GRRR!!! :nono:

I agree Paul, it is very frustrating. In today's world, you can't get anything unless money is shown.

Ernst Jorgensen On Hayride Show And New Project Ideas

Recently Joe Kent, owner of the Louisiana hayride Archive stated that BMG owned the complete recording of Elvis Hayride show from Saturday, December 15, 1956.

Ernst Jorgensen said "As far as I remember his statement is correct and yes FTD and Sony/BMG both are the owners of the 12/15/56 Elvis Hayride show. This is a complete show on tape, I am only not sure if the show runs exactly 35 minutes, guess I need to check on this again."

Joe Kent mentioned "Sony would have to pay me as I own the rights to all of Elvis Presley's Hayride songs". On this Ernst Jorgensen answers: "on this issue we have a different opinion"

On the release of this tape he says:

"The problem is "how" to release this. Is it commercial enough to release this for the big market on Sony/BMG?At this moment we are afraid not, plus the fact it is a show for 30 - 35 minutes in a reasonable radio sound that needs an upgrade."

Well, of course I am all for it that this show must be shared with the ElvisFans, but at this moment there's been so much Public domain releases from Elvis in the 50's on Sun and loads and loads of 56 -57 budget Cd's for a couple of Euro's - The Artist Elvis has become a cheap product! So, we really have to find a concept on the right time and circumstances.

Mind you, I have a full job at Sony/BMG and can only work on the FTD label in my spare time and that is in the weekend from Friday evening till Sunday. And a lot of my spare time is now used to finish the FTD Sun -project - this is personally my biggest goal and get it released end of this year!

After that, I would love to do a "Day by Day" calender photo book on Elvis in 1956 and if possible later on a 1957 with the same concept, with the help of Brian Petersen (Author of the book "The Atomic Powered Singer) and of course you, Andylon with the tons of crazy and rare pictures you shared with me from your private archives.

Anyway, at this moment we are back on track in the 70's to work on the new FTD releases of the That's the way it is recordings and hopefully after the problem we have is solved with the "Publishing - Copyrights" - releasing new Soundboards on FTD, this must be a relief for a lot of 70's ElvisFans."

Ernst Jorgensen On George Klein's Elvis Duets

Several websites mention that George Klein tries to sell three duets he acquired from Felton Jarvis' widow after Felton Jarvis Died. The duets with Larry Gatlin ("Help Me"), Jerry Reed ("Guitar Man") and Carl Perkins' ("Blue Suede Shoes") were produced after Elvis died as part of Felton Jarvis' 1980 -1981 "overdub" project from which we got the "Guitar Man" album.

We contacted Ernst Jorgensen about this, his reaction: "He has tried to sell them to us, and we told him that he has no rights to sell the tape for commercial use".

Wonder if we'll ever get to hear them then

It's amazing that, despite all these years, so much new stuff is turning up. Just wish, we the fans could get to hear it all B)
