He has a very strange twang when he sings in this, very much like that awful one of Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins

I've remembered why I don't watch it. It 's Richard Gere's Billy - too laid back , no pizzazz even in Razzle Dazzle..
Well it brought back great memories of the show for me, but I have to say Richard did nothing that Darius couldn't have done in the film at least as well. I am including the tap dance in that because they cut away and showed his back so many times, it could have been anyone performing it.
I wouldn't lay a bet against Darius being able to do anything he sets his mind on, apart from maybe giving birth to a child.
You're right, B.P. I forgot I have to watch what I say now, after calling for Darius to be Rhett as soon as I heard there was to be a musical of GWTW.

I prefer the ending of the stage show - somehow the surprise about Mary Sunshine sems more likely than all that nonsense with the diary.

I can't imagine that diaries back then looked anything like that anyway.

I quite liked the diary twist, with BF earning Velma's 5 thousand without her even going to trial :)

At the 10th anniversay, I was dissappointed with how Duncan sang in the role. Having now seen the film, it seems clear to me that he was using Gere's performance as influence IMO.

I've only seen youtube clips of Duncan singing AICAIS. The sound on there isn't that good but I never thought his vocal sounded as smooth as Darius.

Duncan looked younger in the role than Darius and played it with more overt humour, more cheeky charmer, whereas Darius went for gravitas and more dry humour. I think it's great that the producers allow all their actors/singers to interpret the character differently.

I really liked Darius' Billy. Duncan really didn't come over as well as I thought he should.

cheeky charmer..I do know Duncan seems more and more camp every time I see him winkning and smarming on the lottery show.

I really didnt see BF character like that

Maybe he's modelling himself on a genuine West End star - John Barrowman.

If Matt Di Angelo plays Billy, I'd advise him to play it more in D's style , more adult. Any other way would just underline his youth. He's just turned 21. He looked his age or a little older at Brucie's birthday show because he was unshaven.

strangely I liked him when he played that captain in Dr Who - it was after when he started being on everything and seemed insistent on coming out over and over on TV! I just find him tedious now,

I wish someone had thought of doing a deal with a digital channel for a Dvd of the 10th Anniversary Show.

I know there wouldn't have been much of Darius but it would have been a great memento of the first ten years of the show. It's still going strong - maybe Darius will get a whole song at the 15th.

Five years is a long time but I've no doubt Darius will still be around, better than ever.

Just look how far Darius has come in just over 2 years since we first saw him appear at the top of the stairs as Billy Flynn.

quote baytree - genuine West End star - John Barrowman.

I would dispute the genuine im afraid, completely over exposed and full of himself. sorry.Regarding D being around in five year time, theres lot of people I know that think hes not around now due to virtually non PR.
