Posted March 5, 200817 yr Tuesday, March 4 2008, 09:44 GMT Sir Paul McCartney is back on speaking terms with ex-Wings guitarist Denny Laine after 28 years. The pair formed the band with McCartney's late wife Linda and drummer Denny Seiwell in 1971, a year after the Beatles officially split. However, their relationship soured in 1980 when McCartney was arrested for marijuana possession after arriving in Japan for a tour. The tour was subsequently cancelled and the group went their separate ways the following year. The former bandmates have now renewed their friendship and attended a U2 concert in London together last December. Source: Digital Spy
March 7, 200817 yr That is good to hear. I know Denny was hacked off with Paul over ending Wings, after Paul's drug bust in Japan and more crucially Paul getting scared to tour after John's assassination by a fan. Also the fact that Paul & Linda supported his ex-wife Jo Jo Laine in her divorce from Denny (who was suffering from drug & alcohol problems) did not help matters. Also Denny's ego would not have been improved when Paul bought from Denny his Wings songwriting publishing back in the late 1980s (albeit most music experts at the time reckoned that Paul was generous with his financial offer) to keep him financially afloat. It would be nice to see Denny perform with Paul again, especially as I & a lot of Paul/Wings fans think Paul himself underplays the importance & quality of his post-Beatles back catalogue.
