Lisa Marie confirms she's pregnant

After weeks of speculation, Lisa Marie Presley has confirmed that she and husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, are expecting their first child.

“I am in fact pregnant,” the singer, 40, blogs on her MySpace page.

She slammed Web sites and British tabloids for speculating on her recent weight gain.

“Now that things are confirmed, hopefully they can stop all of the harassment, and I can stop dodging the continuous bullets,” she wrote.

“It is unfortunate that I couldn't have announced something that is this much of a blessing and that has made us so incredibly happy under better circumstances.”

It is the first child for the couple, who wed in 2006.

Presley has two children, daughter Riley, 18, and son Benjamin, 15, from a previous marriage to Danny Keough.

Confirmation under the gun.

 

After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant.

Once they got a glimpse of my expanding physique a few days ago, they have been like a pack of coyotes circling their prey whilst eerily howling with delight. Starting with a London publication and then New York and Chicago all writing false defamatory degrading stories about all of the dark possible reasons I could be putting on weight. The US tabloids have been calling all day wanting confirmation on all kinds of insane theories.

They couldn't wait to find out if my weight gain was because I was just overeating, in which case It would be open season and they can do the old following in her fathers sad and unfortunate demise story again or less interesting for them and probably much to their dismay, I could just be pregnant and therefore have a legitimate reason for weight gain at which point they should probably wipe the saliva off of their fangs and put them back in their mouths or they may expose the black little souls that they are.

Now that things are confirmed, hopefully they can stop all of the harassment and I can stop dodging the continuous bullets.

It is unfortunate that I couldn't have announced something that is this much of a blessing and that has made us so incredibly happy under better circumstances.

How they have handled themselves with this has been nothing short of irresponsible and disgusting.

Pardon my seething contemptuous tone but ladies, You KNOW if you were pregnant and you felt you were expanding uncontrollably by the moment as a result and the worldwide media started badgering and harassing you for it, plastering you everywhere in an unflattering light, you would be mortified as well.

It is wrong how the press treat celebrities sometimes, but Lisa Marie should have been experienced enough to know that this would happen given the circumstances. If she had chosen to make the announcement before it showed, then there wouldn't have been any of the nonesense she is unhappy with. I realise it's not fair that she should have to do that, and I don't condone any of the usual press antics which have angered her, but if she had chosen to announce her wonderful news it could have saved her a little hassle in the long term.

Yes i do agree with you there Paul, but it isn't fair she as put up with all the jibes about her. I just say Good luck to her and i am sure after she has had the little babe, she will get herself back into shape again and look even more beautiful than she does now. :cheer:

I know Lisa has the financial advantages of being the only child of Elvis, but it must be so hard, having the comparisons made between her and her father, especially when they are nasty digs about her weight :unsure: I am very happy for her and Michael bringing another grandchild of Elvis into the world :cheer: She'll be looking gorgeous again soon, I'm sure :D

I’ve just read a comment on another site which has made me think. Maybe, just maybe, Lisa had been asked by her mother not to announce her pregnancy just yet, as it may have detracted publicity away from her stint on the US Dancing with the Stars :unsure: I hope I’m wrong. I’ll be honest, I’m not a particular fan of Priscilla and I can believe that it may be true. Sorry to sound negative but as for the publicity shot of her and her dancing partner, well plastic surgery and photo airbrushing would make even me look gorgeous ;) I hope I don’t sound catty but I honestly thought she looked far prettier before she went under the knife. :)

:lol: Yes, priscilla did look alot prettier before she went under the knife. I am not over keen on Priscilla either, everything she does relating to Elvis is as though she was still married to him, and she wasn't. They were divorced, so really all she was , was the mother of Lisa Marie. :unsure:

I had to smile today. The Daily Mirror had a piece about Lisa being pregnant and the picture with it, supposedly of Lisa, was actually of Priscilla :rolleyes: Can they ever get anything right :lol:

You guys will know an awful lot more than me about Priscilla but is she really a bad person? She married Elvis, but the few details I have heard about their marriage, mention she was left on her own a great deal of time, both before and after Lisa Marie arrived. What things has she done that have made you dislike her?

Just want to clarify that I don’t hate Priscilla, it’s just I’m not happy about some of the things she has said and done since Elvis died. I honestly believe that Elvis was a man who really wasn’t suited to marriage, maybe because of the life he led (adored by so many women), his life style and workload wasn’t exactly conducive to marriage. I believe he loved Priscilla, he met her when she was so young and ‘modelled her’ on his mother. When she was younger, she was happy to do so, but I’m sure her life wasn’t as she imagined it would be, and having to share her home with Elvis’ friends, almost constantly, must have been so difficult. As a woman myself, I can’t really blame her for wanting more. My problem with Priscilla is that, on her divorce, she wanted to be known as Priscilla Beaulieu again and make it on her own, without using the Presley name. This changed on Elvis’ death when she suddenly became Priscilla Presley again. I believe some of the things she has said, especially about the very early days with Elvis, she has distorted to make herself out to be ‘pure and innocent’ and, from what I’ve read, it seems to have been a case of her parents actively encouraging her relationship with Elvis (apparently she seemed to be keen to move on with her life when he left Germany) That’s ancient history though. She’s very happy for the world to think of her as Elvis’ widow and not his ex wife, and although I appreciate her work in getting Graceland opened, it wasn’t all down to her, despite what she likes people to think. One thing that has always riled me, is the fact that Elvis’ cousin, whom Elvis was particularly close to, considering him like a brother, was unceremoniously sacked from his position as a tour guide. It seems to me, that if you agree with Priscilla, you’re in, if not, you’re dumped, no what your relationship with Elvis was. One thing that I and many noticed from her appearance at last years ‘Concert’ in Memphis was, she made a great play of announcing that her family were all present, neglecting to add that, apart from Lisa, Riley, Benjamin, etc, not one member of Elvis’ family were invited. Her’s were there, but not Elvis’. There are more reasons why I’m not particularly fond of her but it would take too long to go into. I don’t hate her, because I know that Elvis loved her, and I do respect her because she is the mother of Elvis’ only child, I’m just unhappy with the way she puts herself across sometimes.

Hi Paul, I promise you haven't upset anybody ;) I was glad to fill you in on my feelings about Priscilla. As a huge fan of Elvis, I've read a lot, and over time, have formed an opinion of Priscilla. I'm sure there's loads of fans who maybe wouldn't agree with me, and that's cool. It wouldn't be fair for me to expect everyone to agree with me and I would never fall out with anyone who didn't, after all we're all fans of the greatest singer there ever was :yahoo:

The 40-year-old daughter of Elvis Presley said the story, which was widely republished worldwide, forced her to confirm she is expecting a baby.

 

Her UK laywer Simon Smith said claims that she had an "unhealthy appetite" and is "growing like her dad" had left the star "deeply upset and offended".

 

Presley called the press "disgusting" on her MySpace page.

 

The singer, who is issuing the libel claim against the Daily Mail's publishers, Associated Newspapers, at the High Court in London, also explained why she was forced into disclosing her pregnancy.

 

"I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant," she wrote.

The announcement comes days after photos of Presley eating lunch in Los Angeles emerged in some newspapers poking fun at her weight gain.

Speaking to the Associated Press, her spokeswoman Cindy Guagenti said some of the stories had gone too far.

 

"It's like, 'she's gonna die like her father', 'her and her mom are in a fight because of her weight' - that's not true at all. It's just awful stuff," she said.

 

Presley said both she and husband, music producer Michael Lockwood, were "incredibly happy" about their news.

 

She already has an 18-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son from her first marriage to musician to Danny Keough.

 

She briefly married Michael Jackson in 1994 and then actor Nicolas Cage.
