Just wondering how many songs where the title or the lyrics have become kind of obsolete through the years. A few that spring to mind are,

Back in the USSR by the Beatles - doesn't exist anymore :)

Video killed the radio star by Buggles - when video has itself been almost killed of by DVD ^_^

I don't like Mondays by Boomtown Rats - the line " Telex machine is kept so clean" - Do they still have telex machines, I think thay were replaced by fax machines.

What other songs have titles or lyrics that are now obsolete through the passage of time?

but isnt this about pop videos like they play on mtv's TMF - not VCR machines (tho i could be said only in daytime - tmf do stop at 4pm for reality tv programming)

it would be called 'VCR killed the 8 track star' or 'SACD killed the MD star'

so its about video and audio rather than formats and electronic i guess - and i dont know what happens when you've got dvd/vcr/hdd all in one

ELO - Telephone Line - does anyone ever use their landline anymore - or if they do and didn't answer - you'd just call their mobile!

I think the title refers more to the proliferation of "Pop Promo" videos and the birth of MTV in the 80s, than actual video tapes mate.... People listening less to radio and watching promos and MTV/Cable shows to listen to and see vids for new tracks... I dunno, I think it still holds up in this context.... Of course nowadays you have YouTube....

I think a more appropriate title today might be - "YouTube Killed The MTV Star..."

Another one,

The Rezillos - Top Of The Pops

The Clash - (White Man) in Hammersmith Palais
