Singer KELLY CLARKSON has slammed artists like HILARY DUFF and MANDY MOORE - because they have released greatest hits albums too soon. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a string of hit songs since winning TV talent competition American Idol in 2002 - but insists she won't be putting out a compilation of her best tracks until later in her career. She says, "Doing a greatest hits would be crazy. I am not 50. Artists who do one after three albums think their career is coming to an end."

Yeah I agree. They shud call it a 'singles collection' or something :P

Hillary Duff and Mandy Moore...releasing greatets hits albums? Firstly...who are they? How long have they been around? And someone remind me of one of their songs? Gurls like them give greatest hits albums a bad name!

For once i agree with something Kelly Clarkson has said and actually like and respect her for it!

Greatest Hits after 3 albums can be very premature, but sometimes when an artist is planning to take a break from music for a while can help to bride the gap between original material. I do agree that many people release them prematurely, Hilary Duff releasing one at 20! Some people are contractually bound to release them I think, like Mandy Moore [Released after she was dropped from the record Label], Anastacia [in her contract that was about to expire] and many others Im sure.

It isnt always smart, but for Anastacia, it did really well. But releasing one so early can mean a flop

It was defiently ridiculous in Hilary's case. She'd only released 2 albums and like...5 singles. And most of the singles weren't even included on the "greatest hits"
Yep, there's too many people releasing GH albums *cough* Jamelia *cough* Kelis when they have had two or three big hits IMO.
Most Wanted wasnt a greatest hits..... it was just a remix album with some new songs. it seems like a greatest hits but it aint.

I think some artists do it out of desperation
Hmmm it keeps them in some form of limelight when there isn't much else going on in there career, but I do think that yes in most cases they are extremely premature.
Shes right, way too early for her to do a greatest hits. To have a greatest hits you need plenty of albums and singles to choose the hits which were greatest  not just stick all your singles on one album and pass that off as a 'greatest hits'
