Pregnant singer Lisa Marie Presley is launching a libel bid against a British newspaper after it published an article alleging she is overweight. Elvis Presley's daughter says the Daily Mail's story, which was picked up by various media sources worldwide, ridiculed her appearance and forced her to disclose she is expecting a child. Simon Smith, the star's U.K. lawyer, says the publication's claims she had an "unhealthy appetite" and is "growing like her dad" caused her to feel "deeply upset and offended". The 40-year-old is issuing the libel claim against Associated Newspapers, the Daily Mail's publishers, at London's High Court.

 

Presley's spokeswoman Cindy Guagenti says, "(The article was) like, 'She's gonna die like her father', 'She and her mom are in a fight because of her weight' - that's not true at all. It's just awful stuff." The star hit back at the media on Friday (07Mar08) with a blog on website MySpace.com, which read: "After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am, in fact, pregnant.

 

"Once they got a glimpse of my expanding physique a few days ago, they have been like a pack of coyotes circling their prey whilst eerily howling with delight. Starting with a London publication and then New York and Chicago all writing false defamatory, degrading stories about all of the dark possible reasons I could be putting on weight." Presley has two teenage children from her previous marriage to Danny Keogh - Riley, 18, and 15-year-old Benjamin - but this is her first child with husband Michael Lockwood.

Not sure if this is true as it appeared in a US tabloid, so I guess we’ll have to await confirmation ;) However, if it is, that's brilliant news :cheer: Elvis, himself, was of course a twin, but sadly Jesse Garon was stillborn :(

Lisa Marie Presley is going to have an extra special delivery — at least, Star Magazine reported that. According to the Celebrity Magazine, the singer is pregnant with twins. As we told you last week, the daughter of Elvis and Priscilla is expecting with her fourth husband, Michael Lockwood. But now Star reveals that she's four and a half months pregnant with twins and at least one of the babies is a boy. "Michael told me that he and Lisa have been trying to get pregnant for about a year," a neighbor in Hidden Hills, Calif. tells Star. "He also said that they had a sonogram two weeks ago, and [one] baby opened its legs, and they saw something!' Michael was beaming."

Lisa Marie Presley has thanked fans for their support during a difficult week. She was forced to reveal she was pregnant - the latest rumours are she is expecting twins - on March 7, following intense media speculation about her expanding waistline.

She took to her MySpace page in a post punctuated with a happy face, and said:

 

“Your overwhelming support has not gone unnoticed.

“It has been heart warming to see . It has made me very happy.

New mother-to-be LISA MARIE PRESLEY is delighted to be pregnant - because her life feels empty when she's not raising children. The 40-year-old was attending the opening night of PaleyFest on Friday (14Mar08) - where her late father Elvis Presley's '68 Comeback Special played at Hollywood's Arclight Cinerama Dome - when she told reporters her pregnancy has thus far gone without a hitch. And Presley - who has two teenage children, daughter Riley, 18, and son Benjamin, 15, with ex-husband Danny Keough - is longing to occupy herself with the joys of motherhood again, admitting this is her calling in life.

 

She told People.com, "I'm doing all right (but) I'd rather be in bed right now. I don't really know what to do with myself when I'm not a mother. I just feel like I'm good at it. "I'm all right at it, and my kids are teenagers, so I thought it was time to have another round. And my mother kind of did the same thing with my brother, so, it's just time." The singer's mother Priscilla, who was also at the event, added, "It feels great to have a baby coming into the family - all of our kids are all grown. My son, of course my daughter is all grown with her kids, and now her children are grown, so it's a new experience - it's great!" Presley - who was forced to reveal she is expecting earlier this month (Mar08) after intense media scrutiny over her weight gain - confirms her teenage kids are "very excited" at the prospect of a new sibling.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY and mom PRISCILLA PRESLEY were in Los Angeles Friday night for a 40th anniversary salute to ELVIS' 1968 Comeback Special -- and ET was with them for the scoop on all things Presley, including their latest thoughts on Lisa Marie's pregnancy, tabloid coverage on it, and Priscilla's upcoming stint on "Dancing with the Stars"!

 

Arriving at the event in a plunging black jacket and leopard patterned scarf, Lisa Marie looked buoyant, but she confessed that even she is not impervious to the tougher parts of pregnancy, namely being "tired, exhausted, moody... other than that I'm great! I'm actually doing quite well. It's not as bad as I'm teasing!"

 

Last week, however, the 40-year-old singer and mother of two expressed considerable frustration over tabloid speculation about her weight -- scrutiny which prompted her to announce her first pregnancy with music producer MICHAEL LOCKWOOD.

"Yeah, it was pretty gnarly," Lisa Marie told ET. "That was an unexpected attack -- assault … To have somebody sitting here, taking photographs of you that are really unflattering, you don't really know anything about it, and … [tabloids putting] it in some weird, unnecessary, unhealthy, bad light was what sort of crossed the line."

Will this stressful experience set the tone for the new album she's now writing and recording? "I don't want to make it all about that," the singer smiled. "It'll be whatever's on my mind, everyday. That's usually what I write anyway."

 

On a more light-hearted note, she expressed a daughter's concern over how mom Priscilla might fare on "Dancing with the Stars," the new season of which premieres live on Monday night at 8 p.m on ABC.

"She can dance. She can dance well," Lisa Marie said of her mother. "I'm just going to be so nervous. I don't want to be in the audience. I'll be in the back … biting whatever's left of my nails off!"

As for Mom herself, Priscilla told ET she's just thrilled at the prospect of becoming a grandma again. "I'm ecstatic," she said. "It's going to be nice to have a little one running around again. Just being around, just the energy."

While mother Lisa-Marie and grandmother Priscilla are all over the news during the last weeks with their pregnancy and dancing contests, we did not hear from daughter and grand-daughter Riley. Paparazzi were following Riley with the camera, asking her all kinds of questions like if she was happy with the new sibblings that are coming or if she is goin to vote for her grandmother. She does not respond to any question except the ones about her boyfriend.

It's just been dance, dance, dance for Priscilla Presley in the last month as she prepared for her debut on Dancing With the Stars yesterday. Partnered with pro Louis van Amstel, Elvis' ex was ready to hit the floor and show off her brand new body courtesy of all the rehearsal time. Yesterday’s dance was an uptempo foxtrot, for which she wore an elegant green dress. Lisa Marie was in the audience, applauding for her mom. How far Priscilla and Louis get when the competition gets tougher, is unsure. Fact is that the jury couldn’t have been nicer: “For the first time, we saw star quality”.

If Elvis fans are encouraged to vote for Priscilla Presley on Dancing With The Stars, surely that must be cheating?

 

Tonight, UK viewers will get the chance to see Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing. Unless you have been on the moon the last few weeks, everyone is more than aware that Priscilla Presley is taking to the dance floor in the latest series, which was aired in the USA on Monday night and is shown on UK TV Gold from March 21st.

 

According to press reports, Priscilla is already doing very well, with straight eights we hear, so why has a campaign started encouraging all Elvis fans to vote to keep Priscilla in?

 

The UK fan club thinks it's cheating. Come on now. Win because you’re the best dancer, and proud of it, not because Elvis fans have swung the vote!

 

So, in the true spirit of Colonel Parker and one of his first Elvis Presley Enterprises gimmicks of the fifties – the I Hate Elvis / I Love Elvis buttons – we want to balance things out.

Lisa Marie Presley's husband is having a phantom pregnancy.

 

The 40-year-old star - who is rumoured to be expecting twins with music producer Michael Lockwood - says while she is finding her pregnancy easy, her spouse is suffering. She said: "He has all my symptoms. He feels like his belly is getting big, and he has the same appetite I have. He's having reflux and was nauseous the other day. It's funny."

 

A phantom pregnancy in men is also known as Couvade Syndrome and fathers-to-be can suffer from morning sickness, cramps, back pain, cravings and swollen stomachs.

 

Lisa Marie - the daughter of late music legend Elvis Presley - says she is only craving fruit. She said: "Fruit - it's boring but that's what I want. Any fruit - fruit smoothie, fruit juice - it's good!"

 

Lisa Marie - who already has two children, 18-year-old daughter Danielle and son Benjamin, 15, from her first marriage to musician Danny Keough - hopes the older kids will help her once the baby arrives.

Priscilla has confirmed that the unqualified plastic surgeon Dr Serrano performed a botched cosmetic procedure on her in 2003. Currently taking part in the TV show Dancing with the Stars, Priscilla was indeed a client of Dr. Daniel Serrano, who was jailed for injecting industrial low-grade silicone into women's faces. The unlicensed Serrano claimed his injections worked better than Botox, but the non-approved drug he smuggled into America from Argentina left some clients with holes in their faces and paralysis. Serrano was indicted for smuggling drugs, and the conspiracy and use of unapproved drugs, and convicted.

Priscilla's representative said, "Priscilla Presley was one of many documented victims of Dr. Serrano. An investigation which uncovered his misconduct ultimately lead to his imprisonment. Ms. Presley dealt with this matter years ago and everything is well."

EIN has always been saddened by the fact that someone so naturally beautiful would opt for plastic surgery of any kind. EIN's Nigel Patterson is currently on vacation having "some work done".

I really can't understand why anyone having plastic surgery doesn't properly research the surgeon who's going to be doing the work :unsure: And I still can't understand why she's had all that work done as she was a beautiful woman anyway :rolleyes:

She was more beautiful before cosmetic surgery and was and looked natural, now she doesn't. I really don't know why they do it, because it never improves their looks. :blink: :blink:
