'merseybeat', a pop phenominon centred around 1964...

The Beatles - 'she loves you' . possibly the one that really kicked it off and certainly the most remembered from this time. dated and rather primitive, but showed just how far the beatles were to develop within a few years.

Gerry and the pacemakers - 'how do you do it' first of their tracks on this album, perhaps second only to the beatles as mersey successes, good pop track.

Billy j kramer and the dakotas - 'little children' dodgy lyrics by todays standards but a smashing pop ditty... very melodic, i like it!

The Searchers - 'needles and pins' rather lightweight, but i remember this track with some nostalic fondness

Swinging blue jeans - 'youre no good' a minor fav of mine, still sounds good today

Honeycombes - 'have i the right' an excellant foot-stomping pop song with a female on drums! a great track!

Gerry and the pacemakers - 'dont let the sun catch you crying' what a pleasant little ballad this is! another track that still sounds good today

Dave clark five - 'bits and pieces' a rather crude, unsophisticated song but a good foot tapping uptempo track.

Searchers - 'when you walk in the room' a super uptempo love song, the sound suits the mood of the track and imho was their best track.

Gerry and the pacemakers - 'ferry 'cross the mersey' somewhat anthemic (like 'youll never walk alone') but another excellant harmonic track from mr marsden.

Billy j kramer and the dakotas - 'bad to me' just a simple but good track.

The Beatles - 'i feel fine' possibly my fav beatles track and already was technically advanced to 'she loves you'. great riff.
