So Simon Cowell has dumped Terri Seymour..........yet again. How many times is this?

Their six year relationship has supposedly been on the rocks for ages. Wonder if it's true this time.

Six years is a long time for her to get used to that lifestyle but on the other hand it seems he is never to be a family man I wonder why!!!
Saw te bankok lady boys show tonite. It wasnt a gay audience at all as Bramley thought it might be, it was all mothers and predominantly grandmothers. The lady boys were all 16 years old and you could not possibly tell that they were men, if you didnt know, so graceful were they and fantastic figures. It was an education though I wouldnt repeat it. They used backing tapes of singers with really upbeat numbers right through because they were dancing the whole time with a lot of changes of costumes. The second half was quite raunchy and was glad we were sitting in the back row of the balcony as they came into the audience and picked men to go on stage which we had expected. It was quite amazing to see the mums, grans etc dancing and waving their arms about to the music. Not me I hasten to add. However, it was an experience.

Sounds like you had a good night out, Preston. I think if the show had been in London or Brighton, the audience

might have been very different. Good job you sat at the back. I wonder if the lads were all trained dancers.

Sometimes the shows we are somewhat doubtful about turn out to be the most entertaining. A responsive

audience can make the world of difference too.

Glad you enjoyed it Preston.

From playbill.com -Lead producer Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group and co-producers Tulchin/Bartner and Darren Bagert confirmed today that the first production of GUYS AND DOLLS to open on Broadway in 17 years will bow in the spring of 2009 at a Nederlander Theatre to be announced. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, this brand new production marks the first joint Broadway project by two-time Tony Award winning director Des McAnuff and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominated choreographer Sergio Trujillo since their collaboration on the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys.

"I couldn't be more delighted that, after the longest period ever between Broadway productions of GUYS AND DOLLS, Des McAnuff has agreed to direct this brand new production. This is the first reunion of Des with Frank's work since his brilliant production of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which I absolutely adored" said Jo Sullivan Loesser, widow of the late Frank Loesser.

Strange that The Ambassador's Group were the producers of the Donmar production in London and on the UK tour directed by Michael Grandage with choreography by Rob Ashford but appear to have now jumped ship and brought in a whole new creative production team.

I Suppose they will want an american lead for this .

America usually gives preference to Americans. The creative team and cast will be American, unless someone who's not American, but a big Hollywood star or major TV star in an American series so adopted American, does it.

Even if D were considered it might be good for him, but not so good for us.

Too far away. Though I wish him the best.

Besides. 'been there, done that'. Hope he spreads his wings to fly higher.
I doubrt it'd be Darius. Too many Americans wouold want that role.

There were plenty of Americans who wanted the role of Rhett and Darius blew them all out of the water.

However, as I said in another thread, IMHO watching Darius playing Sky again would be like watching a champion pull his punches. You'd know he was only using a tiny fraction of what we've all seen (so far) that he is capable of.

At the time, Sky was a good part for him because unlike Billy Flynn, Sky changes emotionally throughout the show, so he needed to work harder on his acting, not to mention the dancing he had to do. I can still see that matador pose, the one moment in the Havana scene when Darius was able to draw himself up to his full, magnificent height and his dark Persian looks seemed so Latin American.

Rhett was a complicated role and even without the singing, it would have been challenging for a more experienced actor.

I do want Darius to look for new roles to improve his acting skills after he delivers his new album: I don't want him to play Sky or Billy again although I'd understand if he took one of them to get his toe in the Broadway water.

It must be very difficult for even a well-known actor to sort the wheat from the chaff in parts offered to him.

It must be even more difficult for a lesser known actor, with a far more limited choice of parts on offer.

Some parts might be worth taking for the publicity alone, others for an extension of range, and others for

the circle of new acquaintances who might be useful in the future.

I'd go and see him as either again. I'd prefer Sky as it was a meatier role. If he waits for new roles, we wont be seeing him very much.
I wonder if he would risk a 'new' new role after the last debacle.
