I bet Darius was relieved he didn't have to scoop Edward up into his arms too, like Gable did in the film. 4 people a night ( twice on Wed and Sat) would have been a bit much.

I was very good last night. I stuck to the grape all night and wasn't tempted by the grain or my usual night out 'new to me' cocktail.

That makes a difference. Mind you, one glass of wine goes straight to my head - much to my kids amusement.
I have to avoid even one glass of full bodied red wines or fortified wines of any kind, especially port.

Anyone see the clips from GWTW on one of those channel 4 or 5 list type shows tonight?

I was just flicking but I had to stop to watch. I ended up in ALW mode " Sorry, Clark, you're not my Rhett!"

I wish they'd put the show on in the States. With Darius and Jill in it - I know we couldn't have the rest of the terrific cast - except NaTasha as she's an American.

The Daily Record

Other winners on the night included Scottish model of the year Emily McWilliams, Scottish young designer of the year Graeme Armour, fashion photographer David Eustace, who won Scottish communicator of the year, singer Darius Danesh, who was fashion icon of the year, and Christopher Kane, Scottish designer of the year

The Herald

The Scottish Style Icon award, sponsored by The Herald, was won by Darius Danesh, who could not attend due to work commitments.

The comment by Supershrug ( the full set) made me laugh!

Someone who knows nothing about Darius. In the first place he's unlikely to be interested in a football match which doesn't involve Scotland because he's a rugby man and in the second, it's highly unlikely the full match would be shown live in LA anyway.

Darius would have some carbon footprint if he did 2 return trips to LA within a week or so, just to attend a party! What kind of an example would that be?

It's just hard luck the Herald didn't make the announcement when he was still in the UK.

I'm pretty fed up of people who assume Darius can't be working because he's rarely in the UK mags and tabloids or on TV.

He could be tied down by recording, screen tests, auditions or have already started on a new project. We don't know until he or someone else tells us.

They probably asked while he was in GWTW and he would ave been much too busy then. It may have settled to the same script but, 8 shows a night was still very demanding. Being in LA would have made it just as impossible. But, the man'w right. The majority of men would be watching the football.
It wasn't the football that amused me, it was the value he placed on the award.

Quite, there is no need for a celebrity award at all, but the rest of the awards are prestigious awards for merit in the fashion industry in Scotland.

Luxury fashion in Scotland has always been a major export industry whose other big occasion is Tartan Day in New York. Darius has always done his bit for that, appearing when he can and by championing Thistle and Broom who promote the best of Scottish design, sourced from the finest Scottish natural resources.

If they are going to have a Scottish Style Icon, Darius is a worthy winner. He's a classy guy and only rarely does anyone need to call the fashion police when he's around.

I can remember a few though. It's typical, make a mistake once and someone will remember.

I' m staying silent.(or I will probably be called a cynical Sassenach!)

But I still appreciate Walkers shortbread!!!!!!!

One thing puzzles me. In the dinner, starters were haggis, neeps and tatties (definitely Scottish), the main course was salmon(again,Scotland is well known for both its salmon fishing and its salmon fisheries), but the Scottish link to

cupcakes eludes me.My knowledge of cupcakes is of small individual sponge buns, iced or flavoured and encased in

crinkly paper cups. Is there a particular Scottish version?

Are you referring to Darius wearing his kilt, Bramley?

Darius has inherited through his mother and maternal grandfather the right to wear a clan Campbell kilt. He's a proud Scotsman and wears his kilt in the time honoured tradition.

Darius wore his kilt regularly on stage from the PI tour in 2002 onwards. On 26th May 2003 when he was headlining at the SECC arena in Glasgow, a photographer captured one embarrassing frame which the Daily Record published the following day with a large red cross in place and that was that.

Darius as we know was not around much for the rest of 2003 because he was recording in America and then in February 2004 his beloved father fell desperately ill and his album was delayed. Still no sign of that picture.

Isn't it then amazing that the picture reappeared and was sent all round the world this time without the red cross, exactly when Darius was trying to promote his new album?

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that it was an orchestrated campaign, intent on destroying the man and/or his career.

They failed.

It would have been more shocking if he really had a red cross there instead of the usual equipment. I got fed up with receiving the pic - everyone who knew me seemed to send it. It's not as though I don't know that men are different to women - I'd already noticed.

The kind of person who takes that kind of snap is a disgrace. Whether it's of a man or a woman, it is an infringement of there rights and done only to harm.

Apparently there is one photo of D that I have missed. No BT, I know he is a rightful wearer of his Campbell kilt.

I was thinking that although he makes the occasional effort to be fashionably smart, he is much happier in casual

well-worn jeans, t-shirt and jacket ( gas or brown). I never think of D in terms of a fashion icon, more as the boy next

door type.

Oh, and I do not want to see the kilt photo. Isn't there a law against personal privacy being invaded?

There is, but it's a very difficult thing to control on the internet. If people report the post, responsible sites will remove it, as for example happened on the broadwayworld board when someone malicious posted that picture on both the Broadway message board and the West End board and someone on the Broadway board complained. The original poster then re-posted the picture in every active thread on the West End board and all of the threads were then removed by the mods. They did what they could but it took time.

I'm sure that photographer didn't set out to take a picture like that, unlike the vile paparazzi do, particularly to female stars. It's despicable that the (picture) editors of papers and magazine pay them for those pictures.

Someone's put the Live Twice video back on youtube. I nearly cried the first time I saw the video.
