He did take it off when he had it - and then forgot to take it off with him. I'm glad it's gone from that scene.

it looked like an Abraham Lincoln thing going on, which would have been that era?

I notice a lot more people on Ilike on Darius' page- just threw that in while it was going through my mind

Ah, maybe that's why they thought it was a good look. Rhett was supposed to have been up North, so could have been influenced by their fashion.

I remember Darius saying he'd based his Southern accent on tapes in the British Museum of Confederate gentleman from that era and then he and his dialect coach had worked on putting the Northern influence into it, pronouncing some consonants at the end of his drawl.

Where in the story does he come on in the second half?

The second half starts with everyone on stage or around it and Darius states that Lincon has declared the slaves are to be freed.

A few more bits are said and then it moves to what they are thinking at Tara....food...and how to feed everyone.

A big chunk has gone and it quicky moves to soldiers coming on their way home, Will staying, Ashley coming home, needing money for the taxes.....then it gets very interesting!!

It's the long bit at Tara which I find tiresome in the film too. I'm glad Sir Trevor decided to precis all that and get Darius back onstage as fast as decently possible.
It gets interesting when she goes to find Rhett in jail. Darius has the most stage presence and that does help. I know you can't judge someone by a couple of brief conversations but, Jill seems the opposite to Scarlett - a lovely young woman, she looks younger than her age. Very normal and a good sense of humour.
I am not sure Jill is as fiesty as Scarlett in the film - thats only going by the clips I have seen. mind you its that comparing the film again, I thought she was deliciously wicked in the film with no scruples - the comparing of the prostitution of Belle and her self gving herself to men she didnt love for their money was clearly being made

Lots of the characters are safer - it's family friendly. It does loiok different from the first row to further back though. No camera closeups.

Booth was reminding me that Darius singing/writing is still going on. I don't think he'd like us to think the music wont come. he's a lovely man.

I think we'll give him a pass out on the writing/recording for a little while.

Getting some sleep and keeping in good health should be his priority.

I'm not going to be chuffed if I end up seeing Derek Hagen on my first trip. He seems a lovely guy but he's not Darius.

The reviews may not have been wonderful but it can't do Darius's reputation as a singer any harm to have some of the harshest critics in the land praise his voice as extraordinary.., beautiful..., resonant and controlled.

Right now I feel for Margaret Martin and Sir Trevor Nunn. They've pulled off a minor miracle getting the show onstage.

They still have a massive PR asset - their cast especially Darius (+ Savannah) and NaTasha Williams. He should get them out onto TV shows to sing some of the show's songs.

First opportunity - This Morning on Friday. Darius could close the show with a song like when he did AICAIL from Chicago. I'm sure they'd try to facilitate that if Darius asked.

I am afraid I went off martin a bit when I saw the interview when it was about making money...I think this has had an extra hard reception due to the fact she is a debut writer, I am sure there is some snobbery involved - an undercurrent of how dare a newcomer get a WE debut, she has come in for a lot of critisism over her score etc

Mind you I am being purely selfish - I would love it to be a hit and Darius stay in the role and for it to go to Broadway with Darius as Rhett. If not and they want HJ - then to be honest I hope it doesnt even get to Broadway!!!! I see it purely as a vehicle for Darius. I have to say it wouldnt even register on my radar if not for Darius.

was just reading westend whingers agian, and the comments after their review, Darius isnt doing too badly in those, even if the show is getting mixed comments, a lot seem to have left in the interval and in fact the nasty review of the first night preview on the site is unfair because they left in the interval also!! I do find it really annoying that people can spout what they like when they didnt even bother to see the whole show.
