all these shows and articles saying how wonderful 1966 and 1967 was. are they actaully written by people who remember the time or just by 30 year old who imagine it was brilliant due to the world cup and cool hippy music?

Well, if you take what one of my lecturers says at face value, he lived through it and he reckons that the "Swinging 60s" was just all bollocks hype and meant sod all to anyone who lived outside of Central or North London.....LOL

 

 

Nostalgia always makes things appear better than they were. That ****ing Sandi Thom song does my head in. I'm sorry, maybe I'm missing something, but how is ' the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail' a good thing? :huh:

id suggest that the mid 60's was[i/] as good as its portrayed, and yes i was alive then!

 

youth culture as we know it today blossomed then with all the new experimental sounds, music was one big blank canvas that groups were eagre to fill. never before or since has there been such a huge change in fashions in such a short time. fashion, free thinking, music, even culture itself gave rise to what i think was the best time ever for innovation.
