You may remember that last year I gradually reviewed all of the songs giving my opinion, a semi final prediction and then a final prediction...now that all 43 songs have been chosen and heard by me I will begin this process again!

Bosnia-Herzegovina: Laka - Pokusaj

Now I've never been a huge fan of the Bosnian entries before...I thought their schlager entry of 2005 was quite fun and I grew to like Lejla over time. I genuinely love their 2008 offering. It is extremely odd and like nothing else in the contest. I don't really know how to describe the song other than that it sounds like its been made for children but I don't regard it as a joke entry...but the odd melody and tempo changes throughout make it charming to listen to from start to finish...this will ease through its semi and should give the country another top ten finish in the final!

Finland: Teräsbetoni - Missä Miehet Ratsastaa

Having won with Lordi in 2006 it seems as though we are destined to always receive metal or rock from the Finns now. That's fair enough as it is genuinely the most successful music genre in the country in terms of sales and appreciation. However, Lordi was an accessible rock song with a melody and a reason to like it. I can't find any redeeming features in this song and I think that this is just a tad too heavy for the Eurovision audience...I can't see Finland in the final this year...

Macedonia: Tamara feat. Vrcak & Adrian Gaxha - Vo Ime Na Ljubovta

I've really liked the last two Macedonian entries. I thought that Elena Risteska and Karolina were both excellent, very beautiful and had memorable catchy songs. I actually quite like this one too despite it being the least favoured song with most of the bookies currrently which is probably down to their less than perfect performance in their national final. After they improve their performance and probably present the song in English, I see no reason why this shouldn't follow the usual Macedonian pattern of qualification from the semi-final but I can't see it finishing top ten in the final...

Switzerland: Paolo Menguzzi - Era Stupendo

This is a stunning song... it is a piano ballad sung in Italian which itself is quite a nice, sophisticated language by a singer who may well pick up some of the charm and looks votes. The last great Switzerland song was 2005's Cool Vibes by Vanilla Ninja. That finished 8th in the final proving that Switzerland can do well despite the shock non-qualification of DJ Bobo last year. However, if the public don't get behind this one in its semi then its sure to be picked by the jury as it is too good not to make the final, surely? However, despite it being amongst the most liked songs this year, it doesn't strike me as the sort of song that Eastern Europe would vote for in droves so it would be a good result if it made the top ten in the final...

Lithuania: Jeronimas Milius - Nomads In The Night

This is an odd song...the singer has a very low voice singing over this dramatic song which sounds like it should be in a bad musical or an 80s computer game soundtrack. It's quite painful for me to listen to and sounds incredibly dated. Despite being less than 3 minutes long it feels like a much longer torture...I can't imagine that it will pass through its semi final but if by some miracle it does, it will hopefully be lost in the final shake up...

Germany: No Angels - Disappear

In my opinion, Germany are quite innovative in regards to Eurovision...in this decade they have sent comedy, ballads, country, jazz, rock and now its the turn of contemporary chart pop. No Angels were formed on the TV show Popstars at the start of the decade and had huge success in their homeland. Disappear is a modern sounding pop track but some people wonder if its the right type of song for Eurovision. Though I love it, I fear it will get lost amongst the comedy and will be lucky to finish top 15...hope I'm wrong though

Belgium: Ishtar - O Julissi Na Jalini

Over to the Belgians who last had a good result in 2003 when Urban Trad's Sanomi came second and very nearly won, coming only 2 points behind Turkey's Sertab Erener...This is a unique folk song in an imaginary language (much like Sanomi) but it is a lot more bubbly than that song. It is so diverse and different to the rest of the competitors that I think it could do quite well and it would deserve to...I have to say that it reminds me of the game music in 'Super Mario Sunshine' though if anyone's familiar with that!

i like Bosnia!
The Bosnian song is so weird. And not in a good way tbh... I'll probably be proved wrong but I still stand by my opinion!

Well, I mean maybe we should just ask the fortune teller... >_> What does she say about Bosnia?

To be honest I think that the Bosnian song is alright. Not great, not awful.

 the fortune teller believes that Bosnia will go through so I'm happy with that

Russia: Dima Bilan - Believe

I have no idea if Dima Bilan will be the name he uses in the contest, I heard he had to change it!?! Contrary to popular belief, this song was produced by Timbaland's colleague Jim Beanz as opposed to Timba himself...as far as I can see though, this song has 3 big things going for it: 1) It's a very good, catchy well produced song which has been going around my head for days. 2) Dima came second in 2006 and has a large fanbase and will get a lot of votes regardless of the song. 3) Russia have finished in the top 3 four times so far since the start of the decade courtesy of Alsou, tATu, Dima himself and Serebro last year...I see no reason why this won't at least match those results...

Moldova: Geta Berlacu - A Century Of Love

You have to wonder what the national final was like if the public of Moldova sent this to represent them. The country has had a good start to their Eurovision career finishing in the top ten in 2005 and last year but I sincerely doubt that this will continue their run of success. It is bland lounge jazz with a lift music trumpet which sounds like the sort of thing you would hear in some run down department store on a grim sunday afternoon...I can't see Moldova qualifying this year...

Czech Republic: Tereza Kerndlova - Have Some Fun

The first song that I heard from this year's selections, the Czech Republic made a disasterous start to their Eurovision fortunes last year finishing last in the semi-final with one point for their appalling rock song Mala Dama by Kabat. This is much more suited to the contest, a light frothy and catchy pop song sung by a very attractive woman. I think this will just miss out on qualifying as these types of songs often do unfortunately but it will at the very least bring a bit of respect to the nation.

Lativa: Pirates Of The Sea - Wolves Of The Sea

Hard to predict how this will do...Latvia have had mixed success in the past winning in 2002 and immediately following that with a bottom 3 placing the following year...they did well in 2005 with a nice ballad but this is cheesy novelty europop in complete comparison to their opera song last year. It will certainly stand out and I think this will almost certainly pass through its semi-final...whether that means that it will do well in the final is another matter altogether...I actually quite like the song as I'm into this type of music!
