What does everyone think will happen? I personally believe in the heaven/purgatory or hell theory as I am a Catholic. I can't stand the thought of going to hell, so I hope I do go to heaven.

When you die, thats it. Your body stops working, and becomes worm food, or ash if you're cremated. I don't believe in heaven, hell or reincarnation. I think those are all just fairy stories. There's no proof for any of it. They probably all came about because people are frightened of death and don't want to believe it is the end.

I´m not a big believer of life after death, altough I have hope. If there is life after death, I suppose it must be completely different from anything we imagine, and beyond or imagination... Not like in stupid movies... There must be different senses, and not out traditional vision/audition percebtion, also it may be like when you´re dreaming, very crazy and with no notion of time. However, it´s probably just a fantasy of me...

i agree with ghostwriter...

if someone could actually point to where in the universe heaven/hell exist, then ill start listening. until then i just dont swallow the 'happy ever after' c**p... i mean, why[i/] should there be anything?

death means death..... (though i hope im wrong!)

HOWEVER, if someone said that heaven/hell is at a certain place in this universe, like some distant galaxy, then I´d be less of a believer then I am now. If there is life after death it must not be in this phisicall universe, if haven was in a distant place in this universe it would be impossible for us to transport there... It should be a paralell existence that has nothing to do with matter and the things we see. Our senses like vision and audition were given by evolution (or God, for religious), if you didn´t have eyes you would not see, if you didn´t have ears you would not listen, imagine how many things we don´t have that makes it impossible for us to take note of various things that exist...

I suppose if our souls are supposed to go to heaven then it's all in our imagination sort of thing.

im not on about where as such, like andromeda or whatever... but where as in anywhere. if theres a scientific theory that could explain where heaven and hell could exist, then lets hear it!

oh hold on, wouldnt my precious 'string theory' cater for that?...lol..

good point actually, and maybe thats true, that there are spiritual dimensions that do exist but we are either not equiped, or not developed enough to understand.... that could explain the grain of truth that does seem to be held at the heart of all religions... hmm... interesting concept :)

Well, string theory is too much for my brain... But most of the scientists say that our concepts of space/time began during the big bang... This means that there where no "where´s" or "when´s" before the big bang, since space and time did not exist, so when you´re talking about heaven, it makes no sense to ask"where" it is or "when" it will come, since it´s supposed to be something outside of our reality, where the concept of space and time makes no sense... That´s why they say God is everywhere, yet I see him nowhere... It´s an easier way to say that he exists outside of space and time. Religion says that God created space and time, so he doesn´t belong to the past or the future, and not inside of the physicall space.

...... i believe that the reality of life IS too much for our brain to compute, if there is something else, if there is a god, then its clearly a more fantastic prospect then we are currently capeable of understanding.

that makes the notion of 'heaven' and 'hell' as described in the bible etc utterly un-credible, as we are clearly more advanced then they were . they knew nothing about space, or even earth!

Well, it´s exactly because it´s too much for our brain (let alone for people who live 2,000 years ago) that it´s supposed to have described it on an easier way, metaphorically (is that the word in english?). The Bible describes God in a way human beings could understand, yet it says he doesn´t exist phisycally, but spiritually, and is beyond our comprehension. If the Bible explained big bang or string theory, and maybe even evolution, it would be useless, because 90% of the people can´t understand these things today, let alone centuries ago... Plus, the main point of it is not to teach scientifical facts, it´s just to show people that there is a God and how people should act, not kill, not steal, love each other, forgive, etc.

Just like you said, people knew nothing about space or even earth at the biblical times... It was common sense that the Earth was flat... However, the Bible says that in the begining there was only 1 continent and 1 sea, and it was later divided by God... Which is a scientifical fact these days (yet, not made by God but gradually over the time...). It also says that in the begining there was nothing, and then God created the universe... Which matches the big bang theory, that says our universe came from nothing or an insignificant point... Before the big bang theory, most scientists believed that the universe had always existed and there wasn´t a beginning, so the Bible was right and the science was wrong.

LOOK PEOPLE THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!

AND SO GOD LOVES US AND SO HE WANTS US LEAVE AND SO IT'S EASY FOR HIM TO RE-BUILT OUR DEAD BODIES!!!

CAN YOU DOUBT YOU HAVE A SOUL??? AND WHO HAS CREATED THE SOUL? SOUL IS NOT A MACHINE, IS NOT A PC IS NOT A CAR, SOUL HAS FEELINGS..... IT CAN FEEL..... AND NO ONE CAN CREATE A SOUL, CAN A HUMAN CREATE A SOUL? NO!! CAN A MACHINE TO THAT? CAN THE BING BANG? AND HOW CAN YOU BELIEVE IN ALIENS WHEN YOU HAVE NEVER SEE THEM AND NOT BELIEVE IN GOD? WHO ALSO NEVER SAW HIM BUT IF YOU ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTIONS I WROTE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND.

but 'big bang' is only a theory and not a proven fact. so it has no more relevance then the bibles take on creation.

also, science is goes only with the current thinking, and it evolves as new discoveries are made.... the bible doesnt, and even if a point in the bible was a proven fact, all it does is validate that 1 point - it doesnt make the whole bible correct.

Well I thought I wrote about this before, but apparently not.

When you die, firstly your consciousness is no longer locked into the body. Your thought consciusness will intially take over and you will project yourself to where you believe you should be. If you can't believe your dead, you'll be hanging around the earth plane for while, quite common. If you think you should go to heaven or hell because that is you absolute belief then you will project yourself there for a while, it doesn't take long and you'll soon be out of that. Then you'll actually find things are really a lot easier because you haven't got the limitations of the body, and you'll meet many other souls that are the same and also souls that will teach you your own unlimitedness. As the limiations of the mind are released you can go travel and be anywhere you wish.

but doesnt your consciousness only[i/] exist within the confines of your body? doesnt it need the body to exist? where is the evidence m8?..

when you die, you get to wear your best suit, get made-up like Boy George, flat on your back with a cork up your ass.

I can't wait, me.

These arguments just ain´t enough. If God has to exist just because the universe and life exist, then God, who is more complex then us, should have been created too... And if he was created, then he is not God, but just a creature. And about the question if I doubt I have a soul... hmmm. yes.

Exactly, if consciousness was independent from the physical body, people would not become retardad when they have a shot in the brain. Or children who born with just a half of the brain would act the same way as normal children. Our brain affects our counsciousness, when we die, the brain dies, so I think the counsciousness is over....

.......... and therefore theres no life after death :P
