April 9, 200817 yr I have wondered the extreme difference in quality between the two, and I used to think that this performance was lipped in some way, shape or form but through the facts, and the fact the ending of WBT and the ending of FLAB are very different vocally...(actually WBT's ending is probably harder, because the high note and the whistle are both rather easy to produce, parts she has always been able to manipulate rather well... in her case(and mine) the easier parts of a song are usually more difficult  ) I think otherwise, but whatever  it's not really that serious, just what from what I understand... I just wanna see how FLAB tonight on AI is... really... and how well this album as a whole is gonna do...
April 9, 200817 yr Author I just wanna see how FLAB tonight on AI is... really... and how well this album as a whole is gonna do... You'll be waiting a year or so on that one. :heehee: Although Top10 in the UK and #1 in the US for the first single isn't a bad start. ;) As a matter of interest I thought I would check sales margins for both the UK and US to see what Mariah has to do to reach #1. In the UK Mariah needs to sell 40-50k to reach #1 at an estimate. I don't see her doing that. As for the US, Leona looks on course to be #1 this week with sales of around 200k, which I think Mariah should manage with ease.
April 9, 200817 yr I still think people are under-estimating mimi's first week sales Kel :o I think they are gonna be MASSIVE! look at TEOM first week sales! I think the album will do 550+ with EASE! :kink:

April 9, 200817 yr Yeah, 410K off a single that didn't even go Top 10! And the first album she had released after a flop album in comparison to her to others. Releasing this album off the back of TEOM and a no.1 single! I think the sales are going to be mahooosive ^_^ then Bye Bye shall be her 19th no.1 and keep the sales big! Then if she releases Migrate :kink:
April 10, 200817 yr Author Yeah, 410K off a single that didn't even go Top 10! And the first album she had released after a flop album in comparison to her to others. Then if she releases Migrate :kink: Well I have done my research and found out that Mimi sold 20,876 in the first week in the UK. Had the album been out this week and sold that exact amount she would have been at #4, which is amazing! As a chart position, not so much the sales. I do hope Bye Bye is her 19th #1, I hope it does well over here as well. I would LOVE for Mariah to get another UK #1 but I just don't see it happening off this album. Although if she releases Migrate as the third single in the late summer she could get lucky. :P I must post this in the album thread too as most of this is album talk really. :P
April 10, 200817 yr Author See now just as much as I wish I could say that was totally 100% live it obviously wasn't.
April 10, 200817 yr Here's her performance: CP7nLxT4dRk Why did she sing Fly Like A Bird?  It was an alright performance anyway. :P
April 10, 200817 yr LZgnlBGa85w You'll need to crank the sound up! :P Fabulous performance and all live. :D
April 10, 200817 yr I thought it was all live. The high note at the end definitely is. Yeah, 410K off a single that didn't even go Top 10! And the first album she had released after a flop album in comparison to her others. Releasing this album off the back of The Emancipation Of Mimi and a no.1 single! I think the sales are going to be massive, ^_^ then Bye Bye shall be her 19th no.1 and keep the sales big! Then if she releases Migrate :kink: Let's all hope so!
April 11, 200817 yr I was very suprised tbh ^_^ she did very well, sung more of it live than the Grammy's performance! She sung all the end live which is the hardest part :o high notes were very good! ^_^ -_- Im very happy  one of the best performances she has done for AGES vocally.
April 11, 200817 yr I'd say the lower register parts such as the verses are the hardest part for Mariah nowadays. She can still force the high notes but the lower parts are the bits where she struggles nowadays; think of her Touch My Body performances and the 'If there's a camera up in here...' parts.
April 11, 200817 yr These contestants are going to murder her songs. My favourites are Jason & Brooke and they don't have the chops for them. Unless they do folky versions of big ballads which might be fun. I can imagine Carly screaming 'Without You' Ramiele singing 'Can't Let Go' without understanding a single word David A doing 'Hero' and the judges saying he's the new, gayer Mariah And I don't like imagining these things I should update this now people are getting voted off Carly and David A will do those songs above. I will sigh a lot Syesha will do When You Believe because in her head she's better than Mariah & Whitney put together Brooke will flounder, doing Love Takes Time or something else too big Jason will do something like My All in an acoustic way. It could be good Kristy will do something like My All in a country way. It could be good but chances are slimmer David C will be too cool for the whole thing. And be punished! There was such pessimism in this thread. She was great and I thought she would be. To be honest, I think she'd just have skipped it unless she knew it would be great - and was going to put the work in. There wasn't much need to go on the show three times in a week to lip-sync. April 11, 200817 yr The reviews of that performance have been great too. Even from MTV and Entertainment Weekly who are usually a bit sniffy about the old girl. Edited April 11, 200817 yr by Tim
April 16, 200817 yr I was right about Carly, Brooke and Jason. One screamed, one struggled and one ruled in a very quiet way.
