Has anyone here ever visited the Beatles Museum in Liverpool? Was so tempted to go in there today - the music emanating from the place was just so tempting but the queue was massive! I can't believe I'm from Liverpool, and even though I left over 30 years ago I still visit about once a month, but I've never been in the place.

Well if its that bad I'd best give it a miss!

I have never been to Liverpool, let alone the museum :(

Yep, I went to the Beatles Story Museum within the Albert Docks, Liverpool when I went to the Beatles Convention back in 1998.

Incidentally, you don't know how tempting it was to get on the famous This Morning map made famous by Brian Talbot, but common sense got the better of us.

That map has sadly now gone!

I've never been there unfortunately, but on the subject of the Beatles Museum....

Elvis Joins The Beatles Exhibit

Elvis Presley's custom made leather guitar cover, seen frequently in the 1950's is being loaned to The Beatles Story in Liverpool as part of a special exhibit that marks Elvis' influence on the Fab Four.

It's good to see a mutual respect of the two most influential artists of the 20th century

I'm going to take my little fella there this Saturday. I must admit - every time we walk past the - lure of the music is so tempting - but the size of the queue is so off-putting. Having said that - Liverpool gets pretty chocca now days - this Capital of Culture thing is actually starting to take off as far as visitors is concerned.

Will give my reviews as soon as I get back.

Went to Liverpool on Friday and still didn't go into the Beatles Museum. I did however, go on the 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Well worth the money - £12.50 for a two-hour treat. The tour guide (Niel?) was fabulous and seemed to be well clued up on the Beatles (although I had to set him straight on George Harrison's first wife). Had my picture taken outside the Strawberry Fields gates (yes - how touristy!) and of course the Penny Lane signs (they keep getting stolen for keepsakes - and these signs had apparently been the second ones put up that day!)

Seriously - if you are visiting Liverpool - go on this tour. Next time - I'm going on the other tour which is a visit to (and inside) John Lennon's last Liverpool home and the home Paul McCartney lived in on Forthlin Road - were a huge amount of the Beatles favourite songs were composed.

It was good to get something on that lyric from Strawberry Fields 'and nothing to get hung about'. It really was a good tour and excellent value for money (even though I am a bit tight-fisted - and when the bloke said £12.50 - I said 'Does that include lunch?')

Elvis meets the Beatles

For what it’s worth: Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008, is hosting a Beatles Week Festival from 20 to 26 August featuring... Elvis! Bands from more than 20 countries and fans from more than 40 will be travelling to the city for live concerts, art exhibitions, record fairs, guest speakers, video shows, tours, a fleamarket and a Convention. Highlight of the Festival is (on 21 August) the show ‘Elvis meets The Beatles’ at the Cavern Club. Liverpool is Europe's Cultural Capital this year.
