Fabulous album. Truly just STUNNING! :D :D

The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver may be one of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard in my life. My god, some of this songs are just right corkers like the magnificent Mirrorball, Weather To Fly, Starlings, Some Riot are just stupendous low-tempo ditties that just sound beautiful to these ears. And On A Day Like This is just lush and divine in every way!

The Fix, Grounds For Divorce, On A Day Like This & The Bones Of You are great little uptempo choons as well. :D

It deserves all of the top reviews that it's getting. Remarkable record! B)

Favorites:

01 The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver

02 On A Day Like This (The strings!  Gary's singing voice! )

03 Weather To Fly

04 Mirrorball

05 Some Riot

06 The Bones Of You

07 Starlings

08 Grounds For Divorce (Still excellent, mind!)

09 Friends Of Ours

10 The Fix

11 An Audience With The Pope

Sorry space, but I'm prone to make spastic, overenthusiastic reviews every once in a while. It could also happen if I review the new Futureheads album. :P

*awaits to see the many 'No, this record is just average' from the posters*

I own Asleep In The Back and Cast Of Thousands and LOVE them. I didn't bother with Leaders Of The Free World for some reason though...

I'm really tempted by this, definitely worth buying?

They're at their most mellow in this record than in any of their other ones. Perfect for a car ride, Alan, ^_^

This album is EXCELLENT.

I don't think there's a duff track on there. My favourites are The Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver, On a Day Like This and Grounds for Divorce though.

well it should be cheap now...esp if Universal got loads of V2 product it needs floggin off in Fopp. tho SE will be loads now on eBay

I know this is an old thread but OMG I just got One Day Like This!

What a song!

I thought it was alright the first time I heard it then I saw the video the other day and I thought maybe I have dismissed this too easily.

Then I just played it and it clicked. The old eyes were leaking away which is always a good sign!

I don't really want it to be honest.

Anyway, this album is really good. For me it can't compare to Asleep In The Back or Cast Of Thousands but it's pretty damn phenomenal all the same.

My first post so don't throw things..

I love Elbow after my mate on another forum got me into them. I was lucky enough to see them live at a forest gig near me. With the excellent I Am Kloot supporting them.

I think they excelled themselves at the Glastonbury Festival, theire rendition of "One day Like This" being the highlight of the whole thing for me. Oh and Richard Hawley guesting on "The Fix".

Ithink "Starlings" is one of my favourite tracks on SSK and was the one they opened with when I saw them.
